IH-888S-21ib - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Ind/Blk

Well, my measurements were on the money, I’m pretty pleased with these. Glad @Bailey picked me a larger waist though, thanks bro! Don’t think I could go much smaller. Surprised a w32 even worked! The 888 is magic. This denim is something else too. Will be following up. Here’s some shitty pics of the fit for now.
-
@WhiskeySandwich 100% nailed the fit!
-
@goosehd thanks buuuuuuuddy!!
-
@WhiskeySandwich Yeah man, totally on point. They break in so nicely. Stoked they worked out for you.
-
@Oaktavia thanks man. They’re already so freaking soft, almost stretchy, and surprisingly breathable. So glad I tried a high rise, now I can keep my ass covered lol. The extra slight bit of room goes miles for comfort. I know these will be amazing as long as I don’t spill the mustard.
-
@WhiskeySandwich No worries man! They are spot on enjoy the wear!

I'm going to unload my thoughts about these jeans now. It's been 1 week so far and I've worn these all day, every day. 888 is my cut 100%. The waist was pretty snug at first but not uncomfortable. It stretched fast - about an inch in the first day or two, the fit everywhere else feels (and looks, imo) just about perfect. This is totally different than the 777 I'm used to. The 777's waist was in the middle of my hip pivot point, so you bend, and they come down. The 888 is always above that hip pivot, so the waist never moves, and is under far less stress, so they stay put, and I never need to hike them up. Felt quite different at first but quickly adjusted and since they actually cover my whole butt, it looks better too.
I had been under the impression that I'd be wearing the same size in the 888 as I did in the 777, leading to a far baggier fit. Maybe thanks to my slim waist, I went from a w34 in 777 to a w32 in 888. The rise makes a huge difference. They're only slightly looser throughout the entire jean, but a snug waist on the 888 is far more comfortable than a snug waist on the 777 (unless I over eat). I had also been worried that the high rise would be awkward and make me look old-man goofy, but it's actually more comfortable and flattering at the same time.
I'm thrilled with this 21ib denim too. The weight, drape, and hand is incredible. It moves and breathes great. There's a bit of flex to it, but it holds its shape well. Drastically different from my 18oz vintage, 14oz bb, or even my other brand 21oz. I was unsure if I'd like Indigo/Black in person, thought it might be a little much, and worried it would be 'too blue'. But as you can see in my above fit pics, its almost more black, like OD almost? I'm def glad I went with it before they disappeared though, because it's amazing. Far more versatile a color than I thought, and the high-contrast stitching is not as loud as I thought from pictures. The slight early fades I have are surprisingly (and pleasingly) not electric. Under my belt it's going from almost black, to indigo, to a pale blue/white, without vivid "computer blue" in between, and I love it. If these end up how I'm imagining - like a higher contrast OD fade, I'll be ecstatic. -well, I already am, so lets see how it goes. I don't have any pics but will post some more when I get a chance.
-
@WhiskeySandwich they will turn out like a higher contrast fade, but different than OD. They'll brighten up quite a bit...here is my pair from a few months ago. Cloudy day photo:

@Oaktavia beautious!!!
-
@WhiskeySandwich They become extremely comfortable and pliable after a year or so.
-
@Oaktavia hell yeah, i'm sure. Already enjoying the journey. IH 21oz is on the money, I'm in love. I'd have bought and happily worn any other of the 21oz denim, but am very glad I got this one. I think was skeptical about the black weft for no reason. They're just regular jeans, but darker.

@WhiskeySandwich That’s the best description of the 888 cut I’ve read to date.. really appreciate the detail, thank you! I’ve only had 555’s up to now and anything else I’ve tried has quickly ended up getting returned cos I couldn’t keep my arse in them after spending some time reading up on the cuts and finally realising it’s the high rise I need, I’m pretty sure the one remaining cut I’m yet to try (the 888) is the one for me… guna add a pair of 14oz IB 888’s to my next order and see how I get on!
-
@DeeDee85 Hey, If it can lead to somebody finding their best fit, I hope it helps. I've always been a freak about finding the best fit for my body, style, and activity. Not that all the other posts about cuts are misleading, I had just made false assumptions on how it would go. In the end, the only way to know for sure is to try.
One thing to add, is that this cut sorta hangs from the top, if that makes sense. 777 stays on me because it formed to my body, and I wear a belt - but they're like that cardboard sleeve on a coffee cup, naturally sliding down all the time. With the 888, its like flipping that over, so the narrow waist 'falls' onto the widest point of your hips and stops.
-
Agreed! I’ll let you know how I get on.. patiently waiting for the standard N1 deck jacket to drop then I’ll stick a pair of 888’s on the order with that
-
@WhiskeySandwich, I so agree about the 888 fit. It's glorious. Love my 555s, but they can't compare to 888s. And wouldn't even put on a pair of 777s now.
-
@Oaktavia I’ve considered the 666 but could never pull off those thigh measurements. Just like I cant do the 555 knee measurements. I’m 888 all the way now!
-
21 days I’ve had these? Worn every day. I can’t bring myself to wear anything else. They’re too good.
-
@WhiskeySandwich frig yeah dude
