IH-634S-UHR - 21/23oz Raw Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Hi, I’m having a confused moment, perhaps someone can straighten me out - when hemmed UHR jeans are posted in the “reloved” section, how do I figure out what washing (and shrinking) was already done?
That pair are unused I believe, so treat as new. If you need to be super sure drop a email to shop@ironheart.co.uk

@goosehd yeah.. i saw the same thing the other day on my uhr 555’s great hairy beast haha! How is your UHR developing?
-
@T4920 The recommended method with UHR is to soak first, then wash. This because it is loomstate. The soak activates the cotton fibres and embeds the stitching, the wash gets the shrinkage out.
Wearing the jeans and skipping the above step could/will lead to a very unhappy experience…

@Heavy_blue Slow progress as usual, but I am starting to see hints of electric blue in higher wear areas. My previous experience with UHR was that it seemed to take forever and then one day they just looked amazing.

From my understanding it will cause premature wear and potentially cause a blowout.
@neph93 Did I get this right?
Absolutely. The UHR is loomstate. No processes have been performed on it. This means that the constructional stitching is not embedded into the fabric and can pop out. In addition the fabric is so dry and stiff that creases will be very sharp and abrasive and can tear.
Soaking AND an initial wash are necessary to embed the stitching and finesse the fabric. Shrinking is a by product of this.

Thanks for the info. Currently rocking a pair of 666 SBGs and am torn between a pair of UHR 666s and pair of 19oz Lefty 555s to add a pair of indigo heavyweights to my collection. My SBGs measure 34.5 in the waist and 35.4 in the inseam, and are just slightly too long (even with a chunky Japanese cuff) and little loose around the waist. If the size 34/36 UHR 666s shrink as advertised (an inch in the waist and two in the inseam) I feel like they'd be the literal perfect pair of jeans for me as I'm in love with the 666 cut, but I'm conscious of the fact that expected shrinkage isn't an exact art… If you could share your wisdom on the subject I'd be tres grateful [emoji1374]
