IH-777S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim Slim Tapered Cut Jeans

Little update on my pair. About 5 months worth of wear here. Been wearing them extra hard lately-taking them hiking and mountain biking (still a bit of mud on them in these pics lol). Falling in love with them more and more every day!
-
Those are coming along nicely @kelton ! Beautiful. Do other mountain bikers give you crap for wearing them? I'm a mountain biker as well. My friends are to biking what I am to raw denim, as in they ride kitted out to the max, they would trash-talk me hard if I showed up to the trials in jeans lol.

Thanks @Salted Racer ! I definitely got a lot of weird looks while on the trail and a bunch of “wtf are you wearing”s from my friends lol. But all good, they don’t know what we know!
-
@kelton Rock on man! That's right they don't 'get it' like we do : )
-
@kelton cool fades! I’m still amazed by how crispy this denim stays
-
@Jcaz6996 @Heavy_blue Thanks guys! Fade on

Hi, sorry about the pic focus. Am I kidding myself with this size? These are 30, and my 32s feel way too big now that I've worn them in. Room in the waist and rise is good but the thighs are snug. Maybe cold soak? Anyone going dry with these?
-
Wouldn’t recommend dry UHR, they’ll get trashed pretty quick. I think you’re going to need a size up to be able to soak all the shrinkage out and not be super uncomfortable in the thigh.
That said, after a soak and wash, the areas that are under soak will stretch
Back to your presoak measurements. They look like they would be too tight to enjoy, from where I sit.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@sabergirl thank your for the feedback. I'm afraid you're right. The top block fits just how I want it though. I'm afraid if I go up a size they'll fall too low because 2 sizes up is diaper butt city.
-
I’ve tried both. The 666 isn’t tapered enough for me and the 555, to get them tight enough in top block is even tighter on my thighs without enough taper. I really love the rise of the 777. Thank you for the advice!

Hi Kasi! You’re one of the reasons I experiment so much with these heavyweight denims. Seems we have a similar build too. These are the 32 and I basically boiled them twice. I’m going rogue since I have 21 oz 777 and these 32s, and I always have other pairs of IH to swap in. I love the UHR. I love the way the 31s fit this morning without a soak. I’m doing it. Dry. Worst case is, I hang these in the closet until I quit doing squats. I’ll post some updates on my misadventures. I’m going to say a quick prayer to Ruedi and get on with my potentially bad decision.
Sabergirl, I appreciate you so much. I also have the 888s and I had them tapered but they still feel like my dad’s jeans. I’m 51 so that doesn’t make sense but here we are. The only cuts I can’t work are the boot cut and straight leg numbers.

Go to page 2 on this trend all the information is there what I did with my pair. See for your self

@super-thermite , just double checking, but when you say you're going dry, was that on 21oz or the UHR? Only asking so you don't end up with an unexpected pile of broken denim since IH directs the UHR needs that water and agitation to fix the construction stitching.
Wish I could pull off this cut, definitely looks great on you.

Hi everyone!!
I want to share my experience with these jeans, tag size 34; I´m more than pleased. First, I wore them for two weeks until they stretched 1 inch, then I put them in the washing machine at 40 degrees cycle for 90 min, drying them in a hanger, and another washing machine at 40 same drying
and here are the pre and post-wash.Cheers!!

Hi @super-thermite . I too channeled my inner Ruedi and went in dry with my UHRs despite the potential negative side effects of doing so (really enjoy the raw look). Like you I found sizing down to fit me better and they did stretch out to be quite comfortable. I’ve been wearing them pretty hard (hiking/mountain biking) and have experienced nothing bad yet. I’m approaching the 6 month mark and they are holding up exceptionally. I am however a bit concerned for shrinkage when I finally do decide to hand wash (aiming for a year) at which case am going to do my best to negate by using cold water. I also know there’s at least one other UHR fader out there that strictly used cold-hand washes on his pair and they turned out greattttt at the 2yr+ mark.
I’ve uploaded a few progress pics in this thread if you’re curious to see how my pair is looking and will also be posting an updated pic at the 6th month mark. Hope this helps with your decision.

Interesting @kelton I hope you keep updating this thread over the months. Since IH advises you to hot soak and wash to embed stitching and remove shrinkage. I'm curious how these fit over time and to see how they fade dry. Good luck. Such an awesome denim.
