IH-555S-UHR - 21/23oz Ultra Heavy Raw Selvedge Denim Super Slim Cut Jeans

Yeah UHR is very nice! Also it amazes me for how long it stays gnarly and rigid. Needs a ton of wear to soften up, but it’s also part of the process!

thought id throw an update on here. its been not quite 3 months but almost. not quite daily wear either but close. the past few years have seen me live the most sedentary lifestyle ive ever experienced (although i do use a standing desk orientation for most of the work day), but ive still managed to have these on while playing a few gigs, driving around 6k miles, catching some shows, sleeping on a couple floors, and changing oil. the waist has stretched out quite a bit, so i feel i may have been a little too gentle with the initial soak and agitation. im currently going back and forth on whether or not ill do a hot soak and agitate again. otherwise though they are amazing and my girlfriend laughed when i said this the other night but wearing them is addictive.

@darbycrash hell yeah
-
@darbycrash - looking good. Convinced me to dig out my UHR.
What's the GG vibe on your photo?
-
@Crispy-Heron thanx dude! you should post some pics of your pair. out of curiosity do you remember how much shrinkage you got after the initial hot soak?
its him towards the end of his life hanging out with roky erickson. can only imagine what that conversation must have been like lmao.
im really not a fan of ggs music post jabbers anymore but i was into that era when i was a young teenager. i can remember even back then thinking how much cooler the jabbers stuff was and couldnt believe it was him at first.
-
@darbycrash - I didn’t get much shrinkage really and I think I got quite a lot of stretch. As such I am pretty sure that after some wear I was back to around it was pre-wash. That is to say it cancelled the shrink out.
On GG - I am an old fart now but remember reading about GG’s exploits in Maximum Rock n’Roll and got the ROIR tape of his stuff in the late 80s. Then he died! Can’t say I was a huge fan of his music - as you say post-Jabbers it was pretty awful but full of attitude (and dare I say, quite amusing). Just a pity I never get to see him play live - think it would have been quite an experience.

@Crispy-Heron cool man yeah ive said it a bunch before already but i think i may have been a little too gentle in my initial soak/wash with the jeans so ive been thinking i will do a pretty hot soak for my first "wash" post the first one when time comes and hope for the best, because ive got a ton of stretching in the waist. i dont think i care if the fades shift a little, is what it is. this is my first real pair of raws so i figured i was gonna make some mistakes, love em either way.
haha yeah man i would have definitely gone to see him live had i been old enough when he was still kickin. you much of a roky fan at all? 13th floor elevators?
-
@darbycrash - I have listened a few times to the elevators and quite liked their thing although I think I need to go back to them and Roky. In fact, have just listened to the Evil One and liked it a lot. Any recommendations as to where to go next.

@Crispy-Heron personally I would start with "the psychedelic sounds of..." then "easter everywhere" and go from there. i love the later stuff as well but i think starting with the classics is always the best way to go. "bull of the woods" was the last LP from the classic era and that is a really controversial one, love it or hate it kind of thing. it grows on you but thats a good one to come back to after you've dove into the later stuff. after you soak those first 2 LPs in theres a couple 70's singles that are killer, like "mine mine mind", and the aliens stuff. then dive into the other 80's stuff.
