Yup , thanks .. was delighted when my friend ( vinyl dealer) offer me the electric warrior at a gd price .. the curtis fuller have some sticker mark in the last track, but was able to play thru on my mono set up ..all good..
-
@steelydan talk about great finds today. Solid pick-ups! That HoraceSilver LP is a goodie, can't do much wrong with that line-up
-
Thanks @ J-IV, its a 1991 mono jap pressing in minty condition too ..
-
Another white whale for me - such a great album

Happy to get this kevin Grays electric warrior in mint condition
Please tell us more about Kevin Gray @steelydan
I only found this 180gr cut from
Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio from the "ORIGINAL" Analog Master on this great setup….️:
Technics SL-7, AT450, Yamaha A-S1100, Tascam DR-2d -
@GraemeE I saw their first NYC show but sadly missed their last. Saw a few in between. (Meant to quote, that was supposed to be about Kikagaku Moyo.)
-
Oneida - Success
-
@Aetas Kevin gray is a recording engineer similar to bernie grundman different style tho
-
@J-IV , beautiful deep groove pressing . Must have cost you a pretty penny..
-
@steelydan found this for half the price of a typical IHT at a record fair actually. Seller didn't know what they had...
Jazz record prices are insane now, it kind of makes me nauseous lol
-
@steelydan I have an ongoing and heated (albeit good natured) argument with several of my friends about the sacredness of original pressings
I'm typically not a purist especially since I don't want to spend a small fortune on a single album
I'd love to be able to listen to the original 1971 pressing up against the Kevin Gray re-issue someday
-
@GraemeE , same here not a purist . But given a choice to have a original first pressing in gd condition will always be my first choice , but sad to say most popular album is either groove wear, distorted or scratch up . So.. newer well okey pressing will be my only way to enjoy the songs..
Feedback from my friends ( i dont own the original to compare) , the KG reissue sounded bass heavy and not as open .. subjective to different playback system tho -
@J-IV , so happy you have the opportunity to acquire this magnificent deep groove version for a fantastic price . Do give me a heads up if u do chance upon a gd buy that you want to pass ... TIA..
-
@steelydan will do! Any jazz in particular? I don't go digging as often as I used to (or like to for that matter) but I'll gladly pass along a great deal to a good home if I spot one
