Wax Treasure (Vinyl)

@popvulture hell yeah. Gonna check this one out! Interesting side note about his Dead Head fandom. I also know that Stephen Malkmus is a big Phish fan. Guess being an angsty punk/ indie guy fades some as we get older haha. Great music is great music.

I mean, when those guys were young they loved classic rock — I think a lot of what punk was came from people just trying to play what they liked and it came out as something new. Ian MacKaye’s said that he loved Grand Funk and Ted Nugent. Funny shit.
-
I likely won't make it out today but hopefully some of you guys will get a chance to score something

I slept late instead of going out for RSD. I mostly don't care about these things and they're always available after the fact. I do want that Husker Du live thing though.

@popvulture said in Wax Treasure (Vinyl):
Ahh right on — I’ve thought about getting g a P6 for that speed change box (and just for the kick of matching with my amp). Basically the reason I have the 1200 is I hate changing the belt on my MMF to play 45rpm.
Also I sorta feel the same way about cartridge differences — I have Ortofon blues on both of mine and they’ve never left me wanting more, but always been nonetheless curious about MC.
Oh yeah, the belt changing thing is for the birds. When I had a Music Hall and had to change the belt I basically never played anything at 45RPM because it was a hassle. That MMF-5 was my first "real" turntable and it died a tragic death during a move.

Stand inline under the hot sun for abt an hour to get these
-
And later being offer this by a vinyl dealer .
-
Solid pick-ups per usual @steelydan . The ThreeBlindMice label is almost an automatic buy when I do see it
Can't go wrong with some Soul on a Sunday -
@J-IV , thanks .. the three blind mice 2 digit is getting harder to come by , dealer is pricing them higher . And still looking for green caterpillar tbm-39...
-
@Mizmazzle forreal! That whole band is looking like a supergroup tbh. Aaron was the first to venture solo and now Steve (their pianist) and Durand just dropped their own projects this year.
Have you peeped his EP with Dan Aurbach? His cover of The Makings of You is chefs kiss
-
@steelydan tell me about it.. jazz vinyl prices in general are getting impossible to keep up. I remember seeing Strata-East/BlackJazz LP's in the bargain bins and now they're housed in the Collectable section.

For this year rsd , its Taylor Swift . Theres people queuing since 6 am in the morning , and within an hour of acquiring it .its on sale in FB for 150% profit . . I just hate these flippers ...but i understand it can't be help
-
At this point there is only 1 or 2 of his releases that I have yet to acquire
This one was put out the year after he passed and is brilliant
-
Two very good, very different pickups today:
-
@popvulture im not familiar with either - sounds like I need to do some homework

Now that the weather is nicer I can share my corner of the living space
After being on sabbatical from listening to records since my oldest was born in 2014 I have been re-entering the world over the last couple of years
I've cobbled together a modest listening station in my detached home office with room to bring down a few stacks of records at a time from storage
What I lack in quality gear and storage I make up for in the fact that I can listen to my tunes while sitting in 104 degree water surrounded by grape vines
Tonight's tunes for the tub
