Congrats to.Belgium!

Belgium were playing, England turned up in the 2nd half. Now for the justification of “well it’s a young team. Good preparation for the future etc”.

They got back home pretty fast eh? I suppose a month in Moscow is enough for an eternity. I see the
King of Belgium had the day free today…. ::insert waffle, beer, joke here:: -
Hey! They're playing Metallica's opening music (Ecstasy of Gold) at the opening. That's pretty boss, yo.
Oh… and, COME ON CROATIA!!

Yeah I noticed that too.
France does not deserve the lead in this game. I feel for Croatia.

Stats have their limitations, as we've pointed out before here. My congratulations to France. Overall (the whole tournament) it seems to me a well deserving winner. Today's result should have been 2-1 I somehow felt. The first two French goals and the second Croatian one were less than convincing.
Felicitations, la France!

I’ve watched some of the rioting in French cities - after they WON! Imagine what the world would be saying if English supporters did that (you also have to IMAGINE that England would win ::)).
-
Not that English supporters have always behaved perfectly…
I enjoyed watching the game yesterday. I think the stats are a pretty good reflection of the game. The Croatian had more heart, especially at first, the French were technically better, especially in defense. At least one goal on each side was due to the defending team.
The last 2 weeks have been fun for me because although I live in the US I spent a week in Croatia that overlapped with their 1/4 and 1/2 finals, and then came to France on time to watch France's 1/2 final and the final.
Now I need to figure something for the rugby World Cup...

I'm really liking the signings by Liverpool so far this transfer window.

Well for me I guess it's because I don't have the generations of deep seeded rivalry in my blood passed down to me by my footballing fore fathers as a non-English fan. I just bonded with United when I started following the EPL in 2003 because those were about the only games aired in the states at that time with some Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund games (oddly enough) thrown in there. Plus I loved Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
Also, I like to be a big picture kind of guy and I just love the sport in general and competition itself. So when other clubs in the EPL ramp up their squads it's only good for the game and the league as a whole IMO. I guess there's an argument to be made that it's actually good to have dominant dynasty type teams in the league but I prefer a more competitive one all around.
Plus, I just really like this Liverpool squad and I think their signings so far are perfect additions that will translate into results on the field.
