Just a few thoughts about Portugal so far:
It is a photographer’s dream with things to see, a foodie’s with an incredible selection to eat, and an alcoholic’s (ahem, I mean connoisseurs) for wine.
I’ve primarily been using the phone for pictures as it’s been raining since yesterday. Hoping for a break in the weather for some decent pictures…
Those beautiful tiles are slippery in dry weather and a nightmare in wet. Good shoes are a must!! I’ve seen cars spinning tires going uphill in the rain, and insane individuals riding their bikes down. I don’t know how they stop or stay upright. Most cyclists drag their feet going downhill…
Beautiful city, friendly people, and fair prices.
I love it ️

@scooter I’ve been asking around, looking at prices of real estate, and here is what I’ve found out. If you are interested in potentially moving/retiring here, I would start looking for something now as the prices are rising quickly. The locals are starting to complain of how expats are coming in, buying real estate, and pricing the locals out of the market. The same could be said everywhere that I’ve recently traveled (Caribbean, parts of Canada, England, and now Portugal).
There is quite a price range of places to buy and in the areas I have travelled, all seem relatively safe…I’ve only been in the touristy areas and don’t know how much that would change based upon where you would pick for a residence.
There is a fast track way to become a citizen here called the golden visa and it looks fairly pricey. A car is not needed in Lisbon as the public transportation systems here are very good (buses, trains, Uber’s, cabs).
Food can be as expensive or affordable as you want depending on your wants…the sandwiches this morning were only 2.80 euro a piece while we’ve had a few 100 euro dinners. There is a winter here in Lisbon with a wet/rainy season in November, December, and January.
If you have any further questions, please ask and I’ll see what I can find out.
