IHM-37-BLK - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Black
-
I've had a look at the size charts, but can anyone speak to how this fits overall? Boxy? Tapered? Based on the chart and other jackets I have, a small should fit, but a medium might be more comfortable. Local shops don't have any stock and the ones I've found online are final sale.
For reference, I've got a 40" chest, 32" waist (bellybutton), and 34" at my hips - broader shoulders and 165 pounds at 5'8". Maybe someone with similar measurements went through this already.
-
@rllamarca I would always recommend comparing the actual dimensions of the product with a similar fitting jacket, if possible. I appreciate the measurement chart for these hasn't been posted yet (they should arrive on Wednesday) but that measurements are always a safer bet.
You're a similar size to me in terms of vitals and I usually take a Medium, providing the sleeves work, which is usually the issue that they come up too long! It's quite a substantial jacket due to the layers of fabric involved, I would not say the fit is boxy though.

@AdamJ Thanks for the insight! Medium might be the move then. My Schott 641 in size 40 measures 22" P2P and that fits well with the liner installed. I was using the IHM-37 size chart from last year's jacket - curious if they'll vary much in this new release.
If I'm patient, a local shop may receive stock before it gets too cold in the North East US.

@rllamarca They are arriving this week at IHUK, so the selected retailers (which will be posted at the top of this thread in due course) should have theirs next week at some point.

Take my money!
-
They are really.. really.. nice!
-
Man this one is so tempting. It barely gets cold here long enough to justify… let’s see if irrationality wins out
-
It won’t be easy for me to choose the right size, as I stuck between the sizes, @AdamJ would it be possible to check the inside pit to pit measurements? I wonder how much space takes the lining. Thanx!
-
Oh.. this one is almost impossible not to get haha!
-
@Heavy_blue I don't know. I'm so torn apart between this and its Olive version. I cant make up my mind, and the main reason is that those are not the jackets that can be machine washed. What do You all think, what color will be more future proof as the wear and inevitable dirt accumulates?
-
What is up with that sleeve length?? They made the chest a bit smaller but added an inch to the sleeve when it was already pretty long.
-
@AdamJ Thanks!
one more question that is on my mind is regarding the care.
In the product description it's stated that it can be ironed gently to renew waterproofing, and I see how that can be of significant help in 2-5 years. But how to reapply the coating in 5-10 years? Where to get this stuff (urethane/paraffin mix) from? -
@Karol Hi, I hope you don’t mind me having a go at answering your question? I’m guessing the paraffin coating that IH use is rather different but I’ve re-waterproofed a few wax cotton Barbour and Belstaff jackets in the past and I’m guessing the process for re-applying a coating a few years down the line would be roughly the same? @AdamJ
I started by letting the tin of Barbour wax sit in a bowl of warm water for ten minutes or so to warm it up and turn it into a liquid. Then apply it to the clean jacket with a soft cloth, taking extra time to apply more in the seams, high wear areas and any extra dry areas where the coating has worn the most. Then use a hairdryer to run any excess wax into the seams etc.. leave to dry a day or two then repeat if needed. I hope that helps!

@Karol unless you live in the Arctic you will not wear this enough to get much stains on it!
