IHSH-361-BLK - 16oz Non-Selvedge Denim Western Shirt - Superblack (Fades To Grey)

I’m 5’8” with a larger chest, I ended up going with a large, but it is a little tight. I tried an XL but the sleeves and body were way too long. I stick by my initial thoughts when I saw the measurements that this is a tall and skinny guy shirt. The denim is super nice, I plan to wear this a lot this fall/winter.

@chucklando I don't see a lot of button pull and overall think it looks pretty good on you. If you're comfortable, I would recommend keeping it
-
Thanks guys. Yeah I plan to wear it in, I love the development others have posted and have wanted a black denim shirt for a while now.
-
@chucklando Great fit. Perfection with the bottom snap open

@chucklando looks great on you!

Just copped one of these from Rivet & Hide. Really stoked. My 555 SBGs are one of my favorite pairs. SBG is a black denim dream, can’t wait to see it in a shirt.
For those who have one, I’m curious: being 16oz, does it feel more like a jacket than a shirt? Or assuming that it softens as it breaks in, does it eventually feel like a shirt? I have some RGT 15oz “overshirts” but they might as well be jackets. I ultimately didn’t get the CPO version because I’m hoping to wear this more as a shirt.
-
I have the CPO, to me it def feels like a jacket. Worn it almost non-stop since they dropped and it’s still pretty rigid and stubborn. It’s finally draping better after a little over a week but I can still almost get it to stand on its own. The material at this point is formed very well, and is dense, thick, and almost feels waxed, as it’s so buttery smooth and is developing a sheen. I love it, this fabric is beastly for a shirt and will be amazing for this cold season.

@Luijim78 @WhiskeySandwich thanks for the insight! Sounds pretty beefy and more like a shacket than a shirt. Good to have my expectations set in advance. I love a good heavyweight jacket, just haven't been able to adopt that same mindset for a shirt before. Guess its time for the SBG to change my mind haha.

Man. This is some shirt. I've got to echo those of you who said things like "waxy" and "smooth" and "sheen." I've never felt anything quite like it. It's heavy, but it's also comfortable. Not scratchy or rough like some crispy denim tends to be. Tried to take some shots that help showcase these qualities, for those who were like me and just trying to envision what this shirt is really like. Really stoked to see how it progresses and forms down the road.

Just ordered mine. Excited to find another brand that is fit for big & tall guys! This is my first raw denim piece, is there any tips I should know to get a good fade pattern?

Congrats, you picked a winner. When you first wear it, wet the inner elbow (elbow pits?) with water to help set the creases. Wear it a lot all day and night long for as many days as possible before washing. When you wash it, follow the IH way to wash- this helps preserve fades and prevent unwanted fades.
-
@Oaktavia Thank you for the tips. I’ve been seeing all over YouTube that people do an initial soak to soften the denim. Are you saying just wear it straight out of the box?
-
@Deonte1719 some folks think that helps. I wore mine straight from the package. After getting mine wet early on ~10 wears, it did not seem to soften up much if at all. Many types of denim do not soften up with water, but rather with lots of wear.
-
@Oaktavia I figured it would not be that big of a deal because this is a shirt and not a pair of jeans or thick jacket. I think most people soak to remove potential unwanted chemicals left and from the crafting process. I don’t think I’m as worried.
