McNair Shirts and Jackets
-
I haven't seen a thread for McNair in the Forum and thought they were worth a mention. McNair is a company in the UK that is well-known for "mountain shirts". These are overshirts/jackets made from amazing virgin merino lambswool. They also do overshirts and jackets from other material such a corduroy, moleskin and cotton canvas.
The merino wool is sourced from a sustainably run farm in Australia with all the work to the fabric; the weaving, milling, raising and steaming done within 10 miles of where the shirt is made in Huddersfield, UK. This is an area still reknowed for its textile industry, albeit on a much smaller scale than in the past.
I've had my eyes on the original Mountain Shirt for awhile and finally pulled the trigger on one, which I collected last week. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about it! The material, cut, construction, style, and the warmth of this shirt are top notch! The feel of the wool is like nothing I've felt before! As the temperature has dropped below zero in the UK this thing has had some serious hammer and its not let me down yet!
They do standard sizes but also made to measure for no extra cost. You also have a choice of different trim colours, pocket types and length. You even get a £25 voucher to spend in this amazing cafe and bakery near their factory and shop! The customer service was superb. They ship all over the world and even do a Zoom fitting!
Anyway, I've taken some pictures so you get a good idea what the shirt looks like and the material. But check out their website if you need any information.

I am going to buy one soon. I tried one last year but got the sizing wrong. So now I just need to choose which one. I think the heavy moleskin is an option.

@joephoto you won't be disappointed. I was between a small and medium in the merino mountain shirt and they altered it for me following a fitting. The moleskin is next on the list!

We have friends that live up there. I’ll order an. XL moleskin as the XXL was way too big. Then I’ll have a fitting done at some point.

Very nice!

I’ve got one of their moleskin shirts. I found the sizing option excellent, got an XXL and the fit is great. Highly recommended.
