The Iron Heart Forum 15th and the Iron Heart 22nd Anniversary Party
20th, 21st and 22nd September 2024
IHUK, Gosport
We will host another anniversary party at IHUK this coming September. The format will be largley similar to the 20th Anny, for those that attended that.
In the interest of saving the date, we are announcing now before we have made any formal arrangements, so more details will follow of course.
I stole @Madame-Buttonfly 's text from the 20th anny for now, so any newcomers can check out these locations for accommodation.
Sadly, we are not spoilt for choice with accommodation in Gosport, so we're urging everyone to book as early as possible please. The prices are already increasing as this is a popular time of year for weddings (and Iron Heart parties!)
Gosport Travelodge - very easy walking distance to IHUKHQ, the rooms are new and I'm told quite nice for a small, budget hotel.
Holiday Inn Express Gunwharf Quays (Portsmouth) - this hotel is a ferry ride away across the harbour in Portsmouth, but it is easy to get to IHUKHQ on foot (10 mins walk to ferry, 5 mins on ferry to Gosport, then 10 mins walk or short taxi ride to Cooperage Green) and the ferries run pretty frequently (every 15 mins) till around 11pm after which there is a late-night, smaller ferry service (we'll publish all these details nearer the date).
Premier Inn, Gosport - this is a couple of miles up the main road, a 5-10 minute taxi ride from IHUKHQ. Currently £106 for one night (Sat 10th) and £182 for 2 nights (Fri 9th and Sat 10th).
There are also a couple of nice looking places to rent on AirBnB, and of course you can search on hotels.com or booking.com too. Anywhere in Gosport, Lee on the Solent or Portsmouth will make travel achievable, but the further away you are, the harder things become of course...
This local company has a number of great-looking places to rent in Gosport

How to get to Gosport from the two major London airports:
London Gatwick - direct train to Portsmouth Harbour, then follow the signs to the Gosport Ferry. Buy train tickets here. Around 90mins.
London Heathrow - by taxi or rental car is around 90mins direct.
Alternatively, direct coach to Portsmouth, The Hard, which takes around 3hours. Buy tickets here
Finally, you can catch a bus to Woking from Heathrow, then take a direct train to Portsmouth Harbour, then follow the signs to the Gosport Ferry. Buy train tickets here. Around 120 mins.
