SaturdayTypeFever - Sashiko Blazer - Indigo
-
@goosehd For almost the price of this blazer (maybe 150-200€ more), I would be able to get a two-piece, made-to-measure, 100% wool suit or five made-to-measure 100% cotton dress shirts. I've ordered the latter before and it actually worked out really well and the quality was surprisingly good/not bad. But to my knowledge, those kinds of websites don't offer textured fabrics like Sashiko and in this specific case, I can't wait a minimum of four weeks that it would take them for the production and etc.
Long story short: Buying this blazer for a comparable price as the aforementioned custom-made clothing AND spending extra on then having it tailored in multiple areas, messing with the integrity of the original product and design in various ways is a bit of a huge turn off. It's also one of the reasons why I either buy anything Iron Heart if I can be as sure as I can that it'll fit (making sure to measure, comparing with existing, similar clothing etc.) or not but at all, hoping for the next run to fit better or whatever may be the case.
-
...That said, I appreciate your suggestion! And hopefully my frustration with the struggle of things that I really like and want not fitting well didn't come across as me receiving your comment bad or something
-
@cityofdelusion well there will be S in this blazer in the next run, so hopefully the dimensions will work for you when they arrive later in September.
I presume a lot of places don't offer fabric like sashiko because they cost so much per metre for them to buy.

@Steve Fingers crossed that the measurements work out well! And great job on taking a risk and covering a very niche area. I really like the design and functional pockets and would, if the measurements worked well, be delighted to have this and probably at least a black one in my wardrobe for those times when I need to dress business casual/casual.

Is the sleeve length normal IH measurement technique? Seam to cuff? Seems just long enough but it depends on the cut. Whether or not this lanky guy can reach for anything or if I get arrested and have to put my hands up?
-
@CosmoSix5 yep, measurments are as per how we do it for IH
-
@CosmoSix5 I think we are a similar height(6’4’’) and my arm span is longer than I am tall. The sleeves are just workable for me, but on the shorter side of what I’d like

-
@John-Galt Sorry, not sure why the new sizes were missed but we'll get the chart updated with all possible dispatch
-
@CosmoSix5 read my mind.
@Alex is there any excess material on the return of the sleeve cuff that a tailor could potentially use to lengthen the sleeve? I have had this done on blazers in the past with good results.
Need this ‘smarter’ option in my life! -
@long_john86 I have checked and there is enough spare fabric for longer sleeves. Let me know if you'd like me to request some
-
Cheers @Steve , PM’d
-
Let me know what length you get on that sleeve. Thanks!

Tried my very best with this beautiful blazer but unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work.
I am typically XXL, with a sprinkling of XXXL thrown in there as well.
Sizing down to XL provided a really nice ‘fitted’ look, but unfortunately the sleeves looked ridiculous on me
This could be concealed if wearing a shirt underneath but ultimately becomes restrictive in terms of options of how to wear this beauty:
There is material inside the sleeve that a tailor could potentially use to lengthen the arms. Unfortunately not enough for my go-go-gadget arms.
So I then moved onto the XXL. As a few have mentioned, this can work across two sizes depending on whether you want a fitted or relaxed look.
The XXL sleeves worked a lot better for me in length but the bigger chest resulted in movement issues. With the more low armpit style, unfortunately didn’t work for my dimensions in this more relaxed fit.
I then took them to a tailor to see what they thought and it wasn’t overly positive/potentially quite costly. So regretfully they have both gone back in the end. You know when you have that uncertainty in your mind it’s time to let go…
In summary, this is a blazer of pure beauty and style, and I am extremely jealous of all you normally proportioned hunks out there who can pull it off! Because I certainly can’t!
Alas, my blazer journey continues…..
