IHP-FILTHY - Filthy Mike Tribute Patch

In January 2023, the Iron Heart community lost our dear friend, Mike Ogurchak, affectionately known as “Filthy”. More than just a loyal customer, Mike was a beloved forum personality, touching the hearts of the many friends he made worldwide through his kindness and extraordinary generosity. In memory of Filthy, we’ve released these special tribute patches, designed in collaboration with fellow forum user, Endo. Available in two unique designs, all proceeds from the sale of these patches will be added to the fund established to provide ongoing support for Mike’s mother, whom he lived with and cared for.

PN-0073 - Papa Nui - Skyknight Cap - Black

The Skyknight from Papa Nui is another unique cap that explores the theme of post-WWII military aircraft. The Douglas F-10 Sky Knight was a Navy Marine jet fighter designed to escort B-29’s on night bombing missions over Korea in the early 1950’s. Only one of these aircraft was lost to air combat against a MiG 15. This cap was designed to honour the plane's formidable reputation!

Made from charcoal black jungle cloth whipcord, it references both navy fabrications of the era, constructed with a HBT sweatband for comfort and practicality. The style is typical of early 50’s naval aviation and draws on Papa Nui's most popular cap, the Hell Cat, with a silhouette that provides maximum cover from the elements.

PN-0074 - Papa Nui - Hellcat Hat - Olive

Named in honour of the F6F fighter plane, the "Hellcat” is a design that John Terosoriero (owner of Papa Nui) has been refining since the release of the original “Corsair” cap over a decade ago. Taking inspiration from 1940s-style aviator caps, this rugged hat is deep and balanced through the crown so as not to create a pinch at the top. The visor is 8cm (3 1/4”) long, with a wide, square shape taken directly from the USN caps of the era.

PN-0075 - Papa Nui - P80 Wool Cap - Royal Blue

Made from 100% Japanese wool flannel, the P-80 from Papa Nui combines classic military styling with enhanced warmth for the colder seasons. Available in Black or Royal Blue, this cap is based on the original A-3 design, as worn by USAAF ground crew mechanics during WW2. Features include 6-panel construction, an internal sweatband and duck canvas visor lining for durability.
