@Denimminer I have found that more the norm recently, which is weird. If they're out of your preferred size (to exchange to) - which in this case is likely, you're basically SOL with a credit.
Not that I'd have a problem finding something to exchange for especially with new UHFs coming out but sometimes I'll exchange for something I wouldn't normally buy just for fear of the store credit being "lost"
Where do you live where store credit can be lost?
The USA , I'm just saying I don't trust computers them going down, "no record of you having $415 credit" scenario.
I did order a XL from jamesdant so I'll have a L and XL.In California at least, gift cards can never expire (how IH makes their gift cards expire after a year is a whole other issue). Just keep an email copy as a record and anxiety should subside. I also really hate how no stores accept refunds anymore. Just completely gone.

@Denimminer But they don't accept returns either, do they? So you'll have a credit there then?
They do not, and the Large I got from ironshopprovisions and they don't either. This shouldn't be hard to off load if i want to do it myself I suppose to recoup.

@long_john86 I’m not even tall at 5”10 and can see where you are coming from.. I recently ordered 3 UES flannels direct from Japan for a great price and while the quality was great and they fit pretty much spot on.. the sleeves seemed too short after wearing pretty much nothing but Iron Heart. I love that with IH I can fully stretch my arms out in front of me and they still cover my fore arms.. is that weird

The reason I came to IH in the first place.

You need to size up.
-
@tody at least I know I’m not alone then! I didn’t realise how much I’ve grown to love it until I tried a different brand of shirt. I ordered an orSlow chambray work shirt a while ago and while the fit everywhere else was spot on, the sleeves were almost comically short.
-
-
@long_john86 Right decision imo. Sleeves 100% too short. It also looks as if Westerns may be a better shape for you?
The 399 is awesome if you can find one in your size.
-
@Mister_Brue cheers matey Yes I may need to venture into international territory to snag one!
-
@indigostiff This is why I appreciate Division Road. Not only do they truly take returns (read: back to original payment method) , they'll allow you to order multiple to get the sizing right and then, so long as you're keeping one of the two, comp the return shipping on the one you send back.
Probably a pain for them to manage on the back end and lose a bit more profit than they'd otherwise make, but they seem to be an outlier on both policies with so many other stores not even offering true returns....
-
My personal opinion on returns is that the systems/courtesy has been abused to death and a long time coming. With many people buying everything they could in multiples, returning it, and the businesses losing out on shipping fees, card transactions, currency exchanges, etc., I couldn’t understand how some places continued the policies.
It was a great system when people did the work beforehand and tried to buy what they wanted and a fit that worked.
When you think of profit margins and how each of those returns affected the bottom lines. Rent, employees, benefits, insurance, etc. isn’t cheap. One or two returns won’t break the bank, many returns may just bankrupt a company.

@Matt what’s on your feet Matt?!

My god this shirt is fucking lovely
-
@goosehd I think that's all fair to include as context in the discussion, I just immediately get turned off by seeing only store credit offered under a return policy as I want flexibility in purchasing, especially in a situation like this.
Plenty of stockists carried this shirt, but if I had $400 of store credit at one and they sold out my size before I could purchase, then it did me zero good and it may be months or years until I find something I want to purchase from them. Having that much cash "tied up" is a deal breaker for me.
I'd almost rather see them offer an adder that allows it to be returned. Say 5% on top of the purchase price that "turns on" the refund option. That way, the customers that know what they want pay retail and the people that aren't 100% sure get to give it a go without overly hurting the business by making them eat all the costs associated with taking the return.
But maybe that presents additional challenges I'm not thinking of at the moment....
-
@Watty …credit card fees alone are 3.5% (just looked and the current general rates are 1.5%-4%) and higher on every transaction. 5% in the big scheme wouldn’t touch the amount lost on transactions. I can’t say for certain how much every retailer loses, but I would say it’s much higher than what most people would think.
-
@JerkStore looks great ! Enjoy breaking it ! After 24h it gets even better
-
Sorry for the rubbish picture, it’s kind of dark here and I’m home alone. I’m glad I sized up to an XL, I’m not sure I could’ve pulled off the shoulders on a large.
One thing I’ve noticed that I’m not fond of both sleeves have a very pronounced fold mark running down them. Anybody else’s?

That's what I was referring to in my post somewhere above, that they were fading on the hanger. Many of the shirts had it, probably from rubbing during transport.
-
@Anesthetist my left sleeve has a major fold / crease in it as well. As if it was folded then stitched on the cuff? right sleeve isn't as noticeable.
