IHSH-405-GRN - 12oz Ultra Heavy Flannel Check Western Shirt - Green

Not word yet @CosmoSix5

This is the one since the shoulders on the orange didn't work out. Fingers crossed for measurements.
-
Is the top button on a "snap" shirt a style or functional choice? It annoys me for what it's worth.
-
@CosmoSix5 Agreed. I find them almost impossible to do up (luckily it is an extremely rare occurrence), and of course when you upgrade the snaps, the button tends to stick out like a sore thumb because usually the colour has changed.
The 381 has a snap collar, and even Big Bucks. Different fabrics of course, but personally, the thicker the fabric, the more I’m in need of a snap. Maybe a stylistic choice as you say…
Still beats a work shirt though…
-
@Mister_Brue work shirts are by far, sub par when compared to IH westerns. SDA make my favorite work shirts fwiw
-
@CosmoSix5 sub par? in what way? I kinda prefer them to westerns…but like and still buy both
-
@CosmoSix5 ...says the guy wearing a work shirt in his profile pic
i kid, i kid! 100% subjective. And imo - totally comes down to measurements. I have a couple work shirts, but prefer them in a lighter fabric, i have far more westerns because the measurements tend to work out better, and I like pockets that fasten so things dont fall out when i'm upside-down....which I realized from wearing work shirts - is more than I'd thought.
As far as construction or design, I do think snaps are the superior fastener (in most cases, again for lighter fabrics, buttons are fine), prefer the symmetrical side seams and under-sleeve seams that are usually on westerns, vs works. And, i dont care whether the top button is a snap or what because it's never done up, because its always too tight to fit around my neck.
For this shirt in particular, i think the check pattern lends itself more to a western, for no reason really, it just does.
-
@Boit only subpar in fit. For me. Subpar may have been a strong statement
-
@WhiskeySandwich you pretty much made my argument for westerns over work. And you nailed me on the profile pic lol. My only IH work shirt. Until/if I pick up the sashiko next week. So tempting .. why isn't it a western!? Lol
-
@CosmoSix5 For me, not every item that IH has released/releases works out for me. I have learned over the years that for everything I miss out on, something else comes down the line that does and sometimes that means it will not work out for someone else.
It’s not a bad thing as it teaches us to appreciate what we have and that IH does it best to continue offering stuff that we desire.
I’ve been around for a few years now with many members much longer than I…there’s a reason for that.

@WhiskeySandwich @CosmoSix5 For me, this is subjective and often comes down to my personal preference, what works with my body type, and the environment I'm wearing the shirt in. For example, I don't always want to look like an urban cowboy. That and the yoke on the westerns can sometimes accentuate the (small) size of my head...which is sometimes made worse by the pattern of the fabrics and the color contrasting of the stitching. I also really like the gussets on the hems of most of the work shirts. I do agree that snaps are a nice feature that can be missed on most of the work shirts as they can stand-up to more tension and makes for a faster on/off transition to wearing the shirt done-up. Also it's nice that IHUK provide a service for swap out snaps for other colors/materials. This adds a nice layer of customization to the westerns...which is probably prohibitively time consuming if one wanted to swap out buttons (for example).
-
@Mizmazzle I'm a recent convert too. Going forward I'll go work in more 'cosy' shirts I see myself lounging around in and westerns for a sharper look on shirts with more 'statement' fabrics that I'm more likely to wear for work or on nights out.

@CosmoSix5 42oz of material on the shoulders may have been too much for the dobby-sashiko? ...which is why H may not have released it in western?
-
@Boit I was able to snag a red western today after being previously sold out. So now I'm happily out of shirt money. The sashiko is off the table lol
-
@CosmoSix5 I have similar constraints too. haha. nice purchase. That's a nice looking shirt for sure.

If you're adventurous this looks like a sample. Iron Heart is only selling the western. IH is not making these en masse as a work shirt. Only mediums are in stock.
