Hard Drinkers, Lets Drink Hard (Spirits, Liquors and Cocktails)

@Seul - i would recommend staying away from the green 'special reserve'. Slightly too harsh/ unrefined for the price. The original/ private reserve (thats about 25% more expensive) is a world away in flavour! A lot like a Booker Noe that doesn't need a bunch of dilution to open up properly.
@Giles Thanks! Long time no speaky!

got a bottle of the templeton rye, pretty good stuff

So which is best: Blantons, Blantons special reserve green, Gold edition, or Straight from the barrel?..
This is the choice I have:
I've had Special Reserve Green, and it's not that great compared to Blanton's. The Green is watered down to 40% abv. Not worth it in my opinion.

Great mezcal, the cypress makes it very unusual.
Also anyone wanting to explore mezcal should be sure to pick up the Bible.

Great bottle. One of the Del Magueys is from that village.

Pricing and availability have only improved in the US within the past 5 years or so. And you can still only find variety in major cities or through specialty stores. San Francisco really took a liking to mezcales during the time I was living there, and from talking to friends all over the country it's spreading around.
I love mezcal. That and tacos were my favorite things about living in Mexico. (Besides a certain mexicana.)

Mezcal is entirely more interesting than tequila. There just so much wider a spectrum of flavors due to the more open qualifications. I also enjoy sotol; Mexico is really getting on the map in terms of artisinal distillery. I think mezcal is now well on its way to becoming more of a household name. I want the producers to be rewarded, but selfishly I also want to continue having my supply!

Big fan of Laphroaig @Finn666 . That and Talisker really ring my bell when it comes to peated whisky.

@FOXY they look interesting. Partial to a G&T and a Vodka/Dry Vermouth.
However, this is an all time favourite:
