Watches - another OCD problem
-
Just got this In the mail yesterday!
I had the black-faced version of this watch a couple of years ago, at the height of my WIS phase - absolutely superb build quality, that case hardening really is the nuts.
-
I found a Blancpain Aqua Lung today.
I've been eying up watches recently because I'm not really that happy with how my Breitling is behaving, but not a lot appeals. Well, apart from the WW2 German piece I posted earlier. This one, however, is special.
Must get saving…

That one is nice. I love the jumbo date feature; I wish more manufacturers would make watches with it.
Wonder if you can get a whale penis leather strap made for it, you know- to really add something special…
-
Never liked that date window placement, but otherwise it's a lovely watch. Been looking for a bronze cased watch for a while now, but have yet to find one that hits on all cylinders for me.
My all time favorite Lum-Tec is this one, however:
Love the blue face, orange lume combo. Tungsten case is another one on my "need" list, too. It just needs a whale penis leather strap.

She's not much, but all I've used for the past 6 months solid. Everything from landscaping, mechanical work in and under cars, warehouse and forklift work, you name it. Still unscratched somehow.
Love being able to see the time in the middle of the night too. In fact I can use it to guide my way down the hallway it's so damn bright

Chris, Robert Loomes sells a copper cased watch. It might not be your thing, but I'm throwing it in as another option.
-
Copper case looks interesting, but I've always had an aversion to the small seconds. Too bad, because otherwise it's a sweet watch.
I'm kinda rough on watches, so the scratch resistance of tungsten is appealing. I'm curious about the weight of it, too. Tungsten is much heavier than steel, and I do like a heavy watch (said the man who usually wears one with a titanium case).
-
Chris, tungsten is denser than lead. It used to get used in keels for offshore racing yachts until it was banned on cost grounds. I'm sure that it'll be heavy enough for you.
I took a look around Harrods today. In general it exists as proof that wealth does not bring taste, but the watch room there has a lot of interesting pieces in it. I've been curious to see some of the top-end Maurice Lacroix watches, and they had one in the sale.
It's another interesting piece, and was half price in the sale. The salesman inadvertently put me off when he said that a footballer had been interested in buying it though…
The other piece I liked, which I've seen before, was the Chopard LUC Louis-Ulysee Tribute. It's as big as its name is long, and consists of a white gold pocket watch that clips into a strap to become an oversized (50 mm) wrist watch.
If they did one cased in steel or titanium, rather than half a tonne of white gold, then I'd be very, very tempted. I didn't ask if they'd do a tungsten model for Chris, with optional whale penis leather strap though.

Maybe next time.:D
That Lacroix is quite nice though. Not usually a fan of their products, but there's always an exception, right?

I'm late joining this club but finally decided to get a nice watch. Picked up a pristine used Omega Speedmaster Pro, the sapphire sandwich edition with glass back. Pic is of a stock brand new one, will try to post fit pics of mine in the future.

Love that watch. Quite possibly my all time favorite, and someday I'll get one myself. Beautiful movement on those- hand winding chronographs are the best.
