SOCKS
-
Darn Tough socks or nothing.
-
Picked up some smartwool socks, going on reviews they were meant to be really good but I find them pretty average (falling down constantly) Looking for some nice thick socks with a flat toe seam, any recommendations?
-
Mine never fall. Which ones did you get?
-
I love Smartwool also. I use them for basically everything hiking, skiing, running and in the office. They are nothing fancy like Anonymous ism but, as far as comfort nothing else compares.
-
I went for the hike mediums, maybe a hot wash to tighten them is in order.

See above.
Smartwool = made in China, no lifetime (a legitimate one at that) guarantee
Darn Tough = made in Vermont, USA, legit lifetime guarantee
If it breaks, they will replace it.

Used to work in a shoe store that had a massive sock wall. We picked up Darn Tough and I have to say I was severely disappointed in the product. Socks wouldn't stay up on ankle and had multiple customers come back and complain that they would have holes after a few wears.
I'd say the best Made in USA merino wool sock is FITS out of Tennessee.

Do they have a seamless toe @rocket
Trying to find Darn Tough in the UK isn't as easy as I thought, but after putting my smartwool socks in the dryer they feel better so will try them for a bit longer.
-
@David_pll they use this construction
-
Really tempted to grab a pair, they look so nice! I just hate anything rubbing on my toes.
-
I was a sceptic, no longer.

Chup and other "vintage" sock suppliers produce socks that will require linking in the toe area - the heel area is usually seamless.
Most of the high-end, state-of-the-art sock knitting machines will do completely seamless socks, but so far have failed to handle chunkier, un-even yarns and/or producing vintage-looking and vintage-patterned socks.I like my Falke, SmartWool or Injinji socks - I like AnonymousIsm, Chup and Samurai better because of the patterns and the vintage feel.
AnonymousIsm was off with the sizing a bit and I had the linking of one pair come undone (nothing that can't be fixed), but over the last 2 years I became quite fond of Chup.
I haven't tried any other US made socks, yet - but I have to say the I'm not really looking for hardcore tracking or skiing socks with "life time guarantee"… -
I can't believe you've lasted so many years without wearing socks. No longer shall you have smelly feet! Well done!!
We're a hardy breed in the Shire (Nottinghamshire that is), although the wife does resemble a Hobbit slightly.

Just got on the CHUP band wagon as well and can't complain…. simply stunning socks!
