SOCKS

Surprisingly The darn tough I have don’t wick sweat away as well as smartwool or the fitsok. But they are very durable. For the money fitsok really impresses me. Massdrop.com has 3 packs for 19 USD on 3 different styles. But I think smartwool is my favorite.
Do you find all 3 comparable in quality and comfort?
Smartwool are much more readily available in the UK but don’t have the lifetime warranty like darn tough.
They seem decent though

Another mark against Anonymousism, I was putting on my pair this morning and as I was pulling them up over my heel I heard a ripping sound. Now i've got a heel hole in addition to a toe hole. worst brand ever.
-
Yeah I've noticed that the majority of my Anonymous Ism have holes in them. They have certain style that are more durable but compared to Chup, they are definitely inferior.
-
Not good! Were they fairly new?
no. they're about 1-1.5 yrs old. I had about 4-5 pairs of Anonymousism and am now down to 1 pair because I had to throw the others ones out. I'll be spending my money on smart wool and/or darn tough in the future.

Good to know. Might give them a miss then.

I find Chup to be relatively hard-wearing, especially the cotton/acrylic blends. The two pairs of wool blend I have developed holes after a while but that is to be expected. Thinnish wool on Scandinavian hard wood floors is a lethal combo. The other pairs have zero holes and some are three years old and well worn.
My IH socks are in heavy rotation and my very oldest pair (four years) have just developed their first little hole.

I haven't been too impressed with the Chups I have owned so far. I'm not sure if it's the particular blend that I got or what but they are falling apart to put it simply. They don't hold up to the washing machine (possibly due in part to the aggressive american machines), hard to put on over the heel as others have mentioned, holes are forming in the heels, threads are sticking out and coming apart everywhere, they don't hold their shape at the top and get loose after minutes of putting them on and I get the dreaded socks sliding down to the ankle thing going on. I don't know, I might try another pair as maybe it's just the particular blend that I got.
I prefer the Thunders Love over the Chups but the Chups do have the best designs IMO.

Ive had three pairs of Chups. Lovely things, but didn’t last long.
I’ve a pair of ues that I love, but my IH engineers are my favourites and as tough as you’d expect.
-
I tend to baby my Chups so I can't speak to how hard wearing they are. A really good sock that I have put through it's paces for years with zero holes yet developed are Wigwam hiking socks. Fairly warm and very hard wearing.
-
Chups are beautiful - but tbh i did expect a thicker sock when i first got them. They hold up but i mostly wear sneakers and my 10 for 5 no-name cotton socks from some supermarket last years and years and years too…. For the price tag i prefer the Red Wing socks, seem to be a bit more durable. Also got me a pair of stance outdoor socks, they feel solid, fit great and comfy and look pretty nice.

Another pair of stance i own. Couldn‘t not buy them [emoji23]

I'm curious how the Stance socks will hold up over time. They had a few in the past that I really wanted to buy – Tommy Guerrero, Lance Mountain, A Tribe Called Quest, etc., but I read somewhere that some of their socks are paper thin.
-
Can't speak for all their socks, but I have one pair, and they're pretty thick. They've held up reasonably well, but I'm not especially hard on socks, so that's not much of a statement.
-
@gaseousclay they have many different models, some are thin, some are thicker. The have running and hiking socks as well. I buy them wen they are on sale and have different kinds. They all hold up good and fit well and comfy. I wouldn't wear the thinner ones with boots.
@neph93 Damn right haha - But the decoration is some kind of photo print what looks pretty odd and not like good quality when stretched. Can't really recommend them - but these are made for fun so i guess it's acceptable and they're comfy though.
