Been dealing with a guy called Mick Green @ www.bootsaustralia.com (mick@bootsaustralia.com). He has been most helpful with size issues etc. -

Congrats on the Baxters, Stewart. Excellent shoe for a very good price, I say. I agree with the usefulness of a rubber sole. It is not easy to find a well-made shoe with a thin rubber sole that can be worn with a wide variety of clothes and in bad weather, too. I have never damaged leather soles by wearing them in the rain but I do take good care of my shoes. I'd however not like to wear leather soles in snowy slush mixed with salt or gravel. That does kill them easily.
Side note: I am close to 40, too (37) and if you look anything like your twin brother of whom you posted a pic, I am jealous. That's one fit almost 40 year old.

I wore a pair of kickers with my 634S today…plain ugly or acceptable !!!! (they were a fashion icon when I was a teenager in the 80's)
http://www.schuh.co.uk/mens-tan-KICKERS-hi/3207706220/The roads I walk are covered in grit and salt due to snow….the sole can take the abuse.

Duhhh! Just realised I don't need these. Just hunted out my RM Williams (bought in Sidney a few years ago) to take them in for a new sole, and realised they are also one piece construction. What a dunce…..

Very nice boots, Giles. They look a lot like the Baxters. Is that the same manufacturer? Would be interesting to compare the two. Are they available in US or UK?
"Due to US export regulations, selected R.M.Williams products are not available for distribution to the USA"

Hey Boys and Girls
These a pretty cool pair of boots for the price. Got mine for £45 from Ebay, the guy had worn them twice.

Thanks for the links, Giles. Can you tell us more about the maker and how you like the boots? How long have you worn them before they needed a re-sole? I really like this model:
http://www.ahume.co.uk/RM-Williams–-SALE-/Boots---ON-SALE-including-FREE-UK-DELIVERY-AND-CARE-PRODUCT/RM-Williams---SALE--Arnhem-Boots/p-75-104-625/Would look great with jeans! Too bad one cannot see the leather structure very well. The other tan color boot looks good, too. I wonder if it's the same leather. They look slightly different. I don't want light suede leather; too fragile.

They are Australian if course. but have been pretty popular in UK for some time. Used to have a store on Regents Street, not sure if they still do. There primary claim to fame in UK was their waxed leather goods.
When I was in Sydney I looked them out, Had the boots for about 5 years, but couldn't say how many times I wore them before needing to resole.
I really wanted the 1 year veal skin version, but they did not have my size, so I made do with the regular version.

Thanks, Giles. I have done quite a bit of googling on the subject and came across a whole bunch of interesting sites from Australia and also learned some more things about shoes. Discovered a small brand from Paris called Aubercy. I had never heard of them. Shame on me.
If I am going to order a pair of of RMWs, I will try to get them in chestnut Kangaroo with bone colored elastics and a natural color leather sole. They have similar ones on their site but those aren't Kangaroo. Might as well go local if I buy shoes from Australia. And I don't have Kangaroo in my shoe range yet.
