To me, chelsea boots have elastic on the side. Jodhpurs have no elastic, but do have a strap that holds the tongue tight. It looks like the two terms have become interchangeable, but, for what it's worth, most discussions you see on the net still maintain the distinction.

@gakugeidg:Just to learn more: What is the difference between Chelsea boots (would have thought these were Chelseas) and Jodhpurs?

Alico Tahoe.
Found these while on a "find a nice vintage-like hiking boot"-internet frenzy. Made in Italy, norwegian welt, beautiful full grain leather and a nice vibram outsole. There were loads of praising reviews on this boot online and I decided to take the chance re size and went TTS… And boy did it pay off. With some boots you just know if you hit the sweet spot and these are definitely it. Very stiff and will take some breaking in but I seriously love these. Plenty of space for a good insole and thick socks.
Very affordable IMHO (150 € shipped from the states) for what you get. These aren't as nice as Danners or Vibergs obviously but I think these could be a great choice if you're on a budget. The only downside is that these don't have a leather lining but I can live with that. These are going to get a proper thrashing.

nice. wish i could get my wife to invest in some proper footwear. unfortunately, if there is any sense of struggle or "need of breaking in" she wont do it.

Well it was a struggle, but after showing her all her broken and decaying shoes that have accumulated in the house, I finally got her to pick up these boots, as well as a decent pair of heels.
