IHVB-03CT - Iron Heart/Viberg 8" Smoke Jumper - Reverse-out "Copper Task"

@GC:
It’s unsurprising, by evidence of the character, how we can become attached to objects we respect and show love towards.
Thank you sir.
I think the operative word here is “some” love. They get a brush when they are truly muddy/dusty, but I have only treated the soles to an oiling a couple of times. They are showing some serious dry spots and could definitely have benefitted from a little more TLC over the last few years. The saline solution they use to break down road ice and snow is particularly harsh on leather.
So a whole-hearted but rather negligent love, I’d say [emoji1]

Hi Giles, can you help me identify these boots? I got them new old stock from a local shop and they say it is a viberg, iron heart and wesco (?) collab.

Not Wesco but an old IH/Viberg collab. The same build as the brown pair this thread is for, but blacked out. You’re very lucky to find a new/like new deadstock pair.

Thanks both for the quick reply, but the pictures you guys posted have 9 eyelets, mine have 10. Is this just another version?

Yep, IH/Viberg collab.
Maybe there was more than one run @Giles? Alternatively they could be a prototype or a pair of seconds. They look the real deal to me although I can't see the custom stamp on the outside of the shafts on yours @Poofmeister
-
The shaft stamp is there, just a bit hard to capture with my camera, that’s why I gave a shot of the insole stamp.

Best I can do:

Then they the real deal, although quite possibly a prototype/second. The shaft looks taller that 8" too which it would need to be to accommodate the extra eyelet/speedhook. Viberg make prototypes as a matter of course and regularly put on prototype/seconds sales. Which city/store did you buy them in?

Thanks again both, then I am a lucky boy, this was a good find. I was not wondering about the originality as it comes with everything except the false tongues. I believe this was from Japan.

These were not supplied with kilties. I added mine, ironically they are in Wesco brown domain leather.

Aha, @Giles actually had a picture of the same 10 eyelets in this discussion:

@Poofmeister Wesco laces now too so I think that is a legit conclusion.
Good work finding the OG thread. Having had a quick read through it seems certain that these are an early custom version or prototype, possibly even the pair in the pic. All the other pics I can find of the production runs are 9 hole boots. Great find.

Got some new laces, easier to tie and the aglets match the bronze hardware.
-
Love these. Size 8.5 on the scale come in at 2 lbs 10.5 oz
-
Ever wondered?
