i decided to treat my rough out copper task boots with dubbin after doing some research on youtube and via forums. the advice is provided by military, x-military and military enthusiast guys treating their rough out boots in the way it was done in preparation for the water and gas filled environments of the conflicts in the first half of the twentieth century.

These look great @den1mhead . Do you have a close up of the leather?

@neph93, here you go…..

Cheers @neph93. You are getting an awesome pair of boots. Enjoy
Excellent! Thanks so much. I've just bought tmg's pair and they are on their way to me as we speak. I'm trying to work out my options for treatment/wear, so this is really helpful. I really like the two tone effect!

Boom.
I've a pretty great track record at being late to the party and I've decided it's the way forward. IH/Vibergs now, IH/Wescos next year.
These arrived today just after the first snowfall. Ridiculous pair of boots. I'm in love. On the downside, I now have to seriously consider hemming all my jeans anew, as they are currently hemmed for stacks when wearing trainers… First world problems.

Lets see your stacks with the boots. I stack and boot

Quick and dirty:
I think I'm just about ok with these 301's actually. My SBG BB's are hemmed a little shorter, and I probs won't wear my 555's with these boots. But my 666 XHS may need re-doing.

Looks good imo!
Enjoy ya addiction!
Cheers fellas! These jeans have reached soft as jogging bottom stage, which helps, I think. Boots are boss either way. New, bad habit, I fear…

very nice @neph93 !
Edit: those look perfect! Even a bit longer hem/inseam would work IMHO so the UHR might not be as bad as you think.

Thank you sir! MY XHS (I have no UHR….yet) are pretty new and not broken in, soaked or anything. So I'm gonna have to spare them anyway to avoid crocking the boots. Kinda stupid ´cos no trainers until summer (I live in northern Norway) and 25oz is not a summer weight jean. New black boots may be the answer

Awesome boots @neph93

Thank you! I adore them.
Dont you have much experience with crocking? I have a new pair of XHS I'm dying to wear these with but I figure if indigo gets into the rough out it's never coming out again…

Pretty much. Might as well accept it; wabi sabi and all that.
-
@neph93, same as above. I think the embedded indigo adds to the overall character of these wicked boots.

I'm not averse to appreciating the beauty of the inevitable ageing and gradual deterioration in objects, through time and usage. However, I have to say that splurging brand new indigo all over these boots is a bit closer to the ancient Liverpudlian spiritual discipline "the way of the vandal", also known as "the zen of breaking shit", for my liking. I'm going to have to bite the bullet though as the XHS denim is positively screaming to be worn with these boots.
Thanks guys, have a great weekend
