@Jbailla2 below is a YouTube link from CameronO (fairly certain he is a fellow forum goer as well). Not the striped indigo but I believe it is the same fabric.
-
I have the extra heavy indigo flannel shirt. It is a beast and very warm
-
@Jbailla2 yes it's a quite heavy shirt. Heavier on paper than an IH UHF, but it's unbrushed and therefore not as warm as an UHF. In terms of texture it's quite smooth and pliant. It's Indigo dyed so it fades, but very evenly and more with washing than through wear. In that sense very different from a denim shirt. When I pre-soak it before a wash, the water in my bucket still turns very blue...

First flannel from UES, thanks @brooklynclothing!
-
@doubletee how sweet is that tricotine?
-
scratch that, forgot your rocking the indigo flannel. looking very huggable
-
Wearing the Tricotine shirt today. Anyone jump on the Tricotine N-1 recently released? Trying to resist at all costs.
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot that’s a nice looking flannel. Is that their heavyweight model? Think we’re both a size L in UHFs…what did you go size wise wit the UES? 4 or 3??
I’m always weary to order direct from UES due to not knowing my sizing with them. But they def have some nice stuff.

I have four UES shirts (two heavyweight flannels, one extra heavyweight flannel, and the traveler shirt). I am 5'10" 170 and, as you know, I wear Size L IH Westerns. All of my UES shirts are Size 3...they have a really nice tapered fit...almost like a hybrid between a work shirt and a western with the acorn pockets.
I have purchased from both ISP and Franklin and Poe...that is your best bet. I have heard that ordering direct can be a much longer, more involved process.
The quality is great...I highly recommend!
-
@Mizmazzle UES appears to have two flannel models. A Heavy Flannel in 14.5oz weight with 'acorn' pockets, and an Extra Heavy Flannel in 15.5oz weight that Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot has above. I own both models and there is a significant difference in weight between the two. 15.5oz is super nice and thick! IMO, compared to IH UHF, a small in UHF is equal to a size 1 in UES Flannel. An IH UHF medium is equal to a size 2 in UES. Best to see their measurements on the website to be sure. Highly recommended.
-
@Jbailla2 I have the Indigo Stripe heavy flannel and love it...it is like a flannel version of the IH Wabash. I expect it to fade quite nicely and it is certainly more comfortable than the crazy stiff Wabash fabric:)
-
@SaddleSC That's on par with my size recommendations too.
-
@flannel-slut that N1 looks majestic.. everything about this fabric screams class

Acrylic lining though.. something about that material that makes me uncomfortable... I had a cheap Acrylic sweater as a teenager from Levi's that would squeek in such a horrible way when stretched slightly, gave me the same unpleasant sensation as running your nails down a blackboard!
In a way, it was my distaste for that sweater that led me to better quality clothing...
So thank you Acrylic for bringing me Iron Heart
-
@Mizmazzle thanks, dude! I have two pieces from UES, that flannel and this wool hunting jacket, both in size 3. I’m also around 5’10” and 170. The hybrid description of the flannel by @SaddleSC is spot on - great shirt, no doubt.
-
@T4920 great spot on the acrylic man. I can resist in peace
-
@T4920 The acrylic killed the UES N1 for me too, brother! I was watching Josh's launch video over at ISP and was hovering over the buy button and then he got to the collar + liner material. The good news it, that sure makes it a lot easier to resist!
The lack of other "nicities" that I have come to expect with the IH N1 Deck Jackets also lessened my enthusiasm...
The Tricotine is KILLER...but I will wait until next year and hopefully Iron Heart will do another Indigo N1!!!
-
I was surprised by that liner material myself. I can see it making sense for those in not so cold climates though. The Iron Heart N1 jackets are very warm.
