I'll try:
Nothing ever moved
in all the thousand years
I'm still waiting
for fear of death
I am the center
and understand nothing
I am the center
and I have never understood
Pass the red signal - marked
Talking to myself - under four eyes - illegible
there is nothing there where it should be
there is nothing there where it should be - and everybody knows it
Unconscious nod
self-devised limits
"thinking" Labyrinth shaken as Martini
lied robbed eaten
plundered murdered desecrated -
DISENGAGE!
-
So have you guys heard about Primate?
Kevin Sharp and Bill Kelliher in a band together!

LOVE this record. had the 7 inch set that thd records put out years ago, but i'm so stoked it got a proper remaster and rerelease. Shawn Brown is king!!!

So the question is, are they overrated and really one of the best HC bands ever?
One of the first shows I saw was SOIA, Ensign and Indecision… Still a classic night in my life.
Say what you want about SOIA, but every time I saw them I had a blast and sang and moshed like crazy.
-
Overrated? Yes. Important? Yes. Maybe depends on wether you like NYHC or not. I personally am not the biggest fan of Lou Koller's voice, tbh.
-
i gotta say they lost me after just look around. Generally speaking i'm not a huge fan of nyhc. i feel like there were about 4 or 5 bands that were truly great and about a hundred who just sorta rode coat tails.
-
Agnostic Front (early), Cro Mags, Kraut, can you count the Bad Brains?
-
for me yes. there were other bands that i liked, but none of them had the staying power like these bands and everything that came after them seemed to borrow from them very liberally.
and its highly debateable but i would even include sonic youth in there.

^Agnostic Front (early) and Cro Mags are well chosen for NYHC, IMO. The point is, many "average" rock or metal fans think of SOIA as the typical hc band. I don't, to me the BAd Brains, Minor Threat, Adolescents, Black Flag, Middle Class, 7 Seconds, MDC (and german: Spermbirds and Inferno) and so on are "typical". SOIA come far beyond that.
