Viberg

I know I'm gonna get flamed but, I just don't get viberg. IMO the price tag is not worth it. They are not 30% better than White's.
Whether they are worth the extra $$ is hard to say, and up to each person to decide. No doubt they are very expensive. But they are also different from White's, most especially in boot shape and heel options. But also, I have found that I like the leathers offered by Viberg much better. I've had many samples sent by White's, and I just can't find ones that match the really nice leathers that Viberg has.
And the fact is that once you add on some options to your White's – lining, cap toe, CXL, etc. they get up near Viberg prices.
But no doubt, both are great boots.
In other news, I have a new pair of Viberg black horsehides that I will post pics of... as soon as i figure out how to post pics!

show me the horsehide!!!
Furthermore….
I Agree with everything you said earlier in your post about the price differential -
Here's How To Upload Pics to the Forum. Hope that helps, 'cause I want to see Viberg horse hide boots, too.
-
Looks like it didn't work….
Sorry bout that. Followed the directions, and I uploaded my pics to Photobucket, but I guess I am not getting "the image url"... Figured that was the "http" address, but maybe it is something else.
I am not a complete computer idiot, but for some reason this particular task has been stumping me. If I could upload directly from my computer I'd be okay.

Fixed
Great! I will post a few more later…
These were the first pair of Vibergs I ever held in person, and when they came out of the box I actually started laughing at how well-built and beautiful they were. Just a cut above every other boot I have seen (which are quite a few).

I'll post a few more here. It's a 1950 Service Boot, 310 Last, Cat's Paw heel and leather sole. Pics are from right after I got them. I've worn them a handful of times since, and they are now at the cobbler getting a rubber half sole on. (I couldn't hang with the leather sole, though it looked cool for sure.)
These are a very cool pair of boots. But I happen to know that there is another member of the forum who should soon be getting a pair of Brown HH that are perhaps even cooler… Hopefully we will see those before too long....
This post was supposed to have more pics, which for some reason didn't come through. Sorry about that.

Hoping to get some help regarding the soles on these Viberg.
I am building a boot with Viberg and have troubles choosing sole. REally like the look on this, but can't figure out what they have used.http://eightyfoureightyfive.com/2010/09/06/viberg-boots-service-boot/

Marco- best would probably be to contact Viberg directly.
Twometer- hard to say from those pics, but I'd guess either the Dainite or commando sole.
-
Twometer they describe it as wooden sole, i assume leather sole with cats paw heel. Best is you ask on the blog directly
Yeah, pretty sure the brown is a double leather sole, which would be very stiff and seem sort of "wooden." The black might be a Vibram 269, which i know Viberg uses.

Thank you all for the replies!
Have been in contact with Viberg regarding the black one, and the answer was:That's the Black Chromexcel with either a Vibram 700 or 430 Sole. You could use a Cat's Paw Heel on either of these soles too. It is possible the Vibram 269 Sole, which is slightlier dressier and referred to as their Western Sole but it could also work with the Cat's Paw Heel.
Will ask on blog as well.

the black boot should definitely have the vibram 269 sole on it imo…
