Viberg
-
I posted this on the Wild Ones thread, but perhaps this general thread gets more views.
Perhaps someone has experience to compare the John Lofgren engineer and the Viberg ( particularly 2005 last) sizing?
I had a size 12 John Lofgren engineer, which was one of only two that he made (Matt at Rivet Head blog needed a 12 and John made me a pair too). It was the biggest size he offered. These were very tight at first and did loosen up, but any walk over a 1/2 mile and I'd get a blister along the side of my big toe. Very nice boot, but I sold them this spring the get 'the one' boot with looks AND fit me.
Does a John Lofgren size 12 = Viberg size 12? The Lofgren size 12 was definitely too small. I am thinking a Viberg size 13 this point. I don't think a 12.5 size is offered, but I could be wrong.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Here's a family portrait.
Service Boot - English Dubbin Tan - Dainite Sole (from sample sale, was quoted as 110 last, but pretty sure it's actually 2045)
Boondocker with Dainite Sole (110 last)
Icy Mocha CXL Oxford (from sample sal, 110 last)
Vintage Tan Oxford with ripple sole (110 last)Had an Oxford on the 2030 last, but that is a no-go area for my wide ass feet!

How do you like the monster ripple sole? I'm intrigued by them, but it's a lot of money to spend on a shoe based solely on experimentation.

Cat's Paw's advantage is purely cosmetic. Not durable but they look awesome.

not sure if this is news to people or not, but: "We are actually in the process of developing a new last that is a little rounder and more forgiving than the 2030, but with the same low profile." -guy
i for one think that sounds fecking fantastic!

@nat:
Hi guys, would like to know your opinion about Cat's Paw heel compared with Vibram in durability aspect.
I'm interested in making order with my friends and I saw Giles's custom, Icy mocha service boot with Cat's Paw heel, so I'm doubt in choosing between these two brands..Cat's Paw's advantage is purely cosmetic. Not durable but they look awesome.
Hi guys some info I posted a while back, maybe it helps a bit
cats paw is vintage inspired as cats paw and biltrite were rubber companies supporting shoemakers. some of the heels are repros but in some cases you will get a deadstock heel on to the boot if you are lucky all personal taste
