My guess is good ole fashioned shoe polish

No help to Max's question, but did you know Waxed Flesh leather, French Waxed Calf leather & Huntsman leather are all one and the same & that it's actually heavly waxed or dubbed roughout?
Here's the source:

I had no clue . . .

That actually does answer the question. Shoe polish it is.

Hey guys I'm having a horrible time deciding which size Service Boots to go for. My Scout Boots in 9.5 are perfect, but I currently only have a choice of 9 or 10 in the 2030 last? I'm a 10/10.5 in Clarks DBs, I'm a 10.5/11 in Vans New Eras, and a 9.5 in Viberg Scout Boots. I'm about a 10.5-11D according to the brannock system. The Scout boots fit great.
I was originally going to get the 9s but I have a strong feeling that they will be too small. Thoughts? Any help would be amazing. -
If you have a wider foot definitely go with the 10.
-
I would wait for a restock in whatever your chasing and get a 9.5. I'm the same size on all Viberg lasts.

Ended up going with the 9's in color 8. They ended up being a perfect fit, actually one of the best fitting boots or pieces of footwear I've ever owned. I'm thrilled with the cut and finish of these boots. They're the nicest pair I own to date and couldn't be happier. The chromexcel has be a bit worried about how they will hold up top daily use, but I'm not planning on leaving them uncleaned or conditioned when needed. I've worn them to work for three days now and after a good clean all the marks and scuffs seemed to buff out easily. The leather's so greasy that it doesn't need any treatment, at least not yet. I've heard that the nasty creasing people complain about is usually a result of a pair of boots being too large so with the fit I've got I'm not worried about that at all. There's not one bit of imperfection on this pair of boots. I'm so impressed.

I have the same pair and I love them.

Honestly, I wish that viberg would cut it out with doing boots in the 2030 last with an unstructured captoe. I don't think that doing "fashion" boots is necessarily selling out, but I feel like such a non-sturdy looking boot is so at odds with what viberg came from. Can't they find a way to make their boots look good and somewhat resemble what they came from?
for instance, I love davito's old pair of vibergs. They look great aesthetically, but still robust and something that viberg couldve done a long time ago. Anyone seen them make anything like this recently?
Wish all the pics were still here though
so you guys out there make me fuzzy with all this Viberg crazyness lately going on…
so may I present you my new sheep under the wolves fur and new companion to my engineer, here we go
I love the understated roughness of this service boot and the deepness of the merlot color.
my usual US size is 8.5
