Viberg

I have the same pair and I love them.

Honestly, I wish that viberg would cut it out with doing boots in the 2030 last with an unstructured captoe. I don't think that doing "fashion" boots is necessarily selling out, but I feel like such a non-sturdy looking boot is so at odds with what viberg came from. Can't they find a way to make their boots look good and somewhat resemble what they came from?
for instance, I love davito's old pair of vibergs. They look great aesthetically, but still robust and something that viberg couldve done a long time ago. Anyone seen them make anything like this recently?
Wish all the pics were still here though
so you guys out there make me fuzzy with all this Viberg crazyness lately going on…
so may I present you my new sheep under the wolves fur and new companion to my engineer, here we go
I love the understated roughness of this service boot and the deepness of the merlot color.
my usual US size is 8.5

But to be fair, Viberg has a huge selection of boots and lasts in so many styles of leather. If they want to have a few pairs that are strictly "fashion boots" then I'm all for it. It's not like they've dropped their style of boots that gave them the name they have. Regardless, the attraction of something like the service boot, in my opinion, is the fact that it's styled like a fashion boot but made in a much more heavy weight, durable construction. By no means is Viberg necessarily better than other boot companies like Whites or WESCO but the 2030 last is a good card to have in their deck.

They've pretty clearly reoriented themselves from being a hardcore work boot company to a fashion oriented boot company. I thought I read that around 75-80% of their sales now are service boots. I'm not knocking that- companies need to adapt to survive- but I think their selection going forward is going to be less heavy duty, not more.

A shame… See I think the copper task IH collab both looks great and is true to their roots.
But if people keep snatching up essentially the same dainty boot, you're right... They're probably just going to pump more out.

I would really like to see Viberg producing more boots on the 2040 last - particularly in a smooth-out leather and no captoe. To my eye, it looks like the perfect balance between a traditional workboot and a more wearable sleek design. The 2030 is just too pointy and low profile in the toe for my tastes although it does look decent with skinny jeans.

If 2030 is good enough for Santa's elves, it should be good enough for us.

^agreed

Personally, I like the 2030 last.
-
I love everything about those but the caps. I think a bit of structure helps the 2030 and 1035 a great deal, to my eye at least.
-
I feel like I can slog through anything in these. Which is one of my boot criteria. For that matter, one of my criteria for any expensive gear I buy is that I have to be able to beat it like it owes me money.

@mclaincausey:
These are really undestroyable aren't they?Enjoy ya addiction!
-
Yep they are @Jordan23 !
-
I think my dislike for the 2030 might also stem from the fact that they were murder on the tops of my feet…
If viberg made another boot like davitos I'd be damn tempted.

One detail of the SJs I may have never mentioned that I really love is that the nap is coarser on the heel counters (a very highly abraded area in a work boot) and lighter on the rest of the boot. It's that kind of attention to detail and practicality that I really appreciate.
