@Dishelveled Those scout boots are awesome. Unfortunately I couldn't make the 1035 last work for me. If only they came on the 2030…
An update to my last post in this thread:
After much consideration, I ended up going with a pair of Kudu Service Boots from Viberg directly. The colour of the leather is hard to capture in photos but is sort of a deep, chocolate brown with some red undertones that come out when in direct sunlight as shown in the following photos. In regular light they look more like a dark brown. The leather also has a very pleasing pebbling to it, which I quite like. I was initially hesitant about the Dainite sole due to comfort issues but, having now worn them for a bit, they seem super comfy and I'm not sure what I was worried about.
Thanks very much for everyone that offered their opinion and to @Dishelveled specifically for taking the time to answer all my PM'ed questions.

Great score @Qinhan
Those boots look picture perfect.
And great description of the gorgeous leather–textured, red undertones, with just enough wax.
Keep us updated with their evo, so we can live vicariously through your leather adventuresCheers, brother!

^ Love them
x2 not normally my cuppa, by they work so well.
I hear you; the wedge soles were not 'my thing', but boy have I changed my mind after owning two pairs (Vibram's Christy and the 2060 sole). Gives a little more of a 'street wear' look than Dainite, and are over the top comfy!

Ebay special–$280 to my door, should be in next week.
Viberg Short shift--Seller claims they are NEW w/out box--Purchased direct from Viberg (Victoria BC).
I am of course skeptical of the 'New' claim, and don't know if the style will work for me aesthetically, but at this $$$ I took a flier! Seller "doesn't remember any details"--threw box away--about style (I surmised they're the "short shift") last or leather, and if his seller rating wasn't filled with other high end boots and leather jackets sold for "great" prices with 100% feed back I never would have bitten (esp international--Alberta).
I'll update when they arrive and take better photos.
This is the ebay photo...

Those are awesome! Are they the standard Boondocker before the mod?

^echo the above. Those boots with the BTBM resole are rad!
-
thanks
they are actually before the boondocker model was a thing.
closets image of the boot before:
here's the label because viberg used to just send your boots in a huge plain box with no markings to indicate a mortgage payment was in the box
brian did an outstanding job, the speedhooks & lace holes used to be brass color before the elements got to them and everything has held up pretty well
the only drawback is they are heavy, i mean heavy like a diabetic uncle that is passed out on your couch after Thanksgiving dinner heavy

I really dig those. I’ve been putting my “new to me” Viberg/IH service boots through the ringer and feel a new pair is up my alley - the heel just seems to fit me better than the Wesco I’ve tried have…

^Heel on these definitely look to be a stack or so lower than typical Wescos. Just a good looking, straight forward boot that you can kind of work into just about any kit.
