I actually like the cut on them. First thing Roy has done in a while that might actually fit my fat legs. Measurements seem really close to my Oni ducks, though, so I'm not in the market for another pair.
Crotch rivet is less noticeable than you might think. I often forget it's there on my Oni pair.

Fair enough. I sort of expected it to bug me, but it really doesn't. Probably depends a lot on cut of the pants and placement of the rivet.

Worse was the rivet on the coin pocket though…
Anyhow: these look nice enough but can someone tell me why I'd wanna take these over the 666-Ds?..
B/c Roy makes some damn fine clothes, some people can't fit into 666 anythings, and there's no 634 cut duck (hint hint maybe?).

different horses for different courses but.. handmade by one person, in un sanforized, cone mills selvage duck is appealing.. not to mention the slightly crazy ROY details

I went with the Roy over the 666d cause the 38 666d's leg opening is so big for my taste and the 36" waist is way to small for me. Plus it's nice to have some options in the closet that aren't super heavy. The only thing that I don't like about Roy's products is his lack of back pocket accurates. With his crazy attention to details you figure he'd be all over that? But yeah they look good and unsanforized selvage duck sounds delightful to me
And trust me I've been thinking about te 666d's a lot and just couldn't figure out a way to make me happy with them other then having them tapered
