wow i just read all this talk about you guys tapering your jeans… i thought this was very frowned upon. anyway, regarding tapering, what do they do to your jeans? certainly they won't be selvedge as before right? do they withstand at least a legit amount of wear? has anyone had any problems with it?

Its is very frowned upon from my experience. I had my SR's tapered. I'm am a construction worker and needed the toughest jeans money could buy. At the time, it was the OG SR's. Unfortunatley they were just a little too baggy. The fit everywhere else was spot on for me as a construction worker except the legs. I posted them once a while back on sufu I believe (or it might have been here) and everyone pretty much told me I was stupid, shouldn't have bought the jeans to begin with, etc. Thus the reason the SR's I have been beating on for a few years have never been posted again.
Not sure why people have such strong feelings on what OTHERS do with their money but I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions.
That being said, my tapered SR's show 0 signs of wear in regards to structural integrity where they were cut and resewn. I was nervous when I did it but now would not hesistate to do it again after I have seen how well they held up!

Yeah, Mike, I love the custom denim movement. Cut 'em, sew 'em, chop 'em, dye 'em, bleach 'em, stone 'em, sew patches on 'em, stain the leather, scrape 'em, and do what makes them rad to YOU. FTW, they're your jeans, rock the fuck out of 'em.

Just post pictures, so I can get some ideas!

Ill have to get some pics of the SRs.
Since we are on the subject of heavy duty and Modding, this is what happens when your chain ring breaks…
Quarter inch thick bridle strap, solid brass D and solid brass rivets. Or as I like to call it, the forever mod… if I break this one, I'm done with wallet chains.

BEASTMOD!!!

It might be frowned upon on SuFu, but then you should know that SuFu's ratio of arseholes to good lads is 9:1… Here it's the other way around: 9 decent folk and me... But I have had jeans tapered myself so you're good...
I second this. Your money, your jeans, do what you want to make them perfect for you. No one needs to get their panties in a wad about it. That intolerant SuFu vibe isn't worth the time.
We try to be nicer here (even Seul).

Just got my SG2109's back from Denim Therapy (denimtherapy.com). Had the crotch repaired and heavily reinforced, got em hemmed, and the pocket bags were more or less rebuilt. Overall I'm very happy with the work they did
I'll get pics of the work up sometime soon…
Never got around to getting these up, but for reference…
The new pocket bags...
The inside of the crotch…
and the outer appearance…

I wanted a black IH- Beanie, could only get grey, so I dyed it charcoal grey and I think it's better for it.

^very nice

I thought those were acrylic? Didn't realize they would be dye-able. Nicely done, Mega.

They're a cotton blend, so if you use a black dye this is the result

Got it. The uncertainty of the final product is one of the things I like about home dyeing projects.
