IHSH-62-BLK - 12oz Wabash Western Shirt - Black

@Ray:
Been eyeing the green Western Serge also, so like Mizmazzle pointed out; this may become the start of something for me….
My IH 'problem' started in Jan with a CPO shirt I picked up on eBay. I justified the following six shirts by saying it'd be nice to have one for every day of the week, but somehow I have nine now… I guess I need one for every day of the month now
Or you could work to the French republican calendar. It was rubbish but it had 10 day weeks

There’s a few of us that have either met or surpassed that…stick around long enough and I have a feeling you will too.

Don’t worry, there’s always an excuse but you don’t have to do it all at once

Just got a medium in this, and while it fits better than the small (scroll up for pic), it still might be a little tight in the shoulders. The buttons aren’t pulling or anything, but when I button it all the way up, it feels a little tight in the upper block, and these diagonal creases appear from the armpits to the neck. Should I size up to the large? I’d worry about the sleeves being a bit long in that case.

At long last I got my hands on some wabash! As expected this thing is beautiful! It’s also softer than I was expecting. Was thinking it might feel a little more crispy but it is soft right away (to me)!
This is an XL which feels a little better sleeve length than some other XXL I have.

Looks amazing Are those jeans SBG 634s?

That is the correct size for you. An L would be long everywhere and wide too.
Bare in mind that this is not a formal shirt. It is made from heavy, tough fabric. This will cause it to crease differently to other materials. These shirts take a while to break in and drape properly.

Thank you goosehd and neph93 ! Helpful comments for sure. I spent some time wearing the shirt last night, and I started to feel better about it. Thanks for the support!

Thank you! They are actually the overdyed 634S-B, still pretty new since I have quite a few pairs in rotation, and only had them a few months so far.

I can’t be the first person to ask, but this shirt is a left-hand twill, right? Is that significant?

I believe it is RHT… the only significance of the direction of the weave in twill fabrics is in the hands of the designer. LHT creates more challenges with dyeing than RHT due to more of the weft showing. That is what makes the IH 19oz LHT interesting as IH goes to great lengths to create an unusually dark LHT fabric.

The wabby is a serge right? 2 up 2 down right hand twill? I guess denim may originate from "serge de Nimes" so perhaps it's both?
-
It's a twill, which is what both denim. and serge are. I possibly should not have used the term "denim", but yes, one of the trains of thought is that Denim originated from the term Serge de Nimes…..
A nice article her:

Cool. Only reason I asked is because the diagonal-looking pattern goes up to the left, not the right. What am I mistaking this for?

You’re right, it does. I suspect that the outward face of the shirt is actually the reverse of the fabric. Might be worth checking with Haraki-san, @Giles ?
