Well done! You will love it @gaseousclay 8)…
... and learn to hate it, because Pat garments last for eternity :D.

After the cold spell we went through I decided to invest in this portable jump n carry. It took 5 hrs for roadside assistance to help me with my car which was frustrating. I realize that they were backed up but had I been stranded in the middle of nowhere I would’ve been screwed. I probably went overboard on this thing but I wanted the best I could find.

Great investment and I have one of those as well as a power inverter that can run on 12V cigarette lighter from the car or a 12V lead acid battery. So the battery and starter can charge in the car if they need to, and I can also charge or plug in any 120V AC item I want.
What I'd really like to get someday would be a Goal Zero lithium portable power station and solar array but that's an order of magnitude more expensive at the moment. 1000 Wh capacity runs you about $1/Wh.
I bet that puffer came in handy as a layer for the vortex?

I actually wore a uhf/vest combo underneath my North Face Gotham parka. I only wear my new Patagonia jacket for when temps are 20 or above.
But yes, the jump n carry is definitely a good investment. I may never need it in the future but I really disliked relying on my insurance company to get me out of a jam.

Here's my Minneapolis deep winter gear–an old picture and shitty quality, but luckily I don't have recent ones because I have not had to wear this except two times since I moved away:
Canada Goose hat with fleece insulation and beaver pelt flaps, Marmot down expedition coat. Combined with some IH layers, I was able to weather a -40F windchill day in this ridiculous getup.
-
better safe than sorry. I know I look pretty ridiculous when the weather takes a turn for the worst, but in those instances I don't really care what others may think. My son sometimes gives me sh*t about dressing appropriately when it's cold out. He'll go on about why I don't wear snow pants and boots when he has to. I tell him that I wear thermals underneath my clothes so that I have insulation

I'm proud to look like an idiot if I'm comfortable doing so.

Bought this insulated Zojirushi bottle for my wife and now I'm going to have to get one. Keeps hot things hot, cold things cold, and is very easy to drink out of (no fumbling with caps or sucking on nipples not awkward opening that splashes on you easily). Top pops open upon the release of the button, which can be locked so that it doesn't open accidentally. Pretty much the best water bottle for commuting and such that I've found.

Zojirushi is a good brand. I have one of their rice cookers which I haven’t used in awhile

Throwing a kick ass leather cover over a comb totally gets me.
I picked up a Chicago Comb a while back with the Olive shell cover. Today I added another with Natural Essex so that I can keep one in my work bag. The carbon fiber comb is pretty nice.

Signed Lichtenstein litho from 1981 from our local art museum
They recently uncovered 10 of them in storage and it’s a really cool piece of StL history IMOSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@Anesthetist cool poster! Must have been a small fortune. Also, thanks for finding this topic for me… I couldn't find it even with search. But now I know it's location. I always end up posting in the random announcements thread.

Got rejected from yet another job application, drank some gin & tonics, then switched to beer when I ran out of gin and bought a Mister Freedom jacket. So it's a…good (?) day...

I was totally channeling the Korean concept of shibal biyong when purchasing:

Love this indigo bandana from Portland made of fabric from Japan from Kiriko Made. They have some crazy shashiko and other Japanese heritage fabrics and garments and engaged personally on fulfilling the order very promptly and professionally. This one is deeply indigo dyed (thought it was fulfilled incorrectly as black for a second) with a crazy discharged print and really nice stitching. The bandanas are the tip of the iceberg with these guys but a good find! It shipped with great attention to detail, including some nice words and a cool bronze almost steampunk safety pin to clasp the bandana as a neckerchief.

Ordered this T-shirt today even though I don’t ride. But I am a fan of PoTA [emoji108]
