IH-777S-21 - Super-Slim Tapered 21oz Indigo Selvedge Jean - VERSION 1
-
@Winchy, would this comparison not be complicated by the fact that the 666S is unsanforized?
-
Indeed yes, as those are the pre-soak measurements for the 666S.
-
Very happy with some recent 555-01 and the tweaks you have planned for future runs of these sound great.
I am thinking getting the back rise right is a difficult balancing act, as you don't want a heavily tapered jean with a nappy looking arse. However you don't want them too restricting either. It's got to be in proportion with the thigh measurement right?
-
@Ragehaver Can you please post the actual measurements of your W38 777 (has it stretched much?)? That'd be awesome, thank you!

I haven't put any wear of them because I sent them out to get tapered a bit. I'll post an update on the measurements once they arrive and I put a couple wears on them.
-
Thank you, @Ragehaver , looking forward to your fit pics :). The thigh-measurements seem pretty narrow or is this not the case in reality??
-
Now that I check the measurement page, it looks like I measured incorrectly. I went from the center seam in the crotch to the side of the leg, not including the total remaining fabric of the back rise. So yeah, my measurement is probably a bit short.
Sorry for the disaster in the background.

glad you happy with them & sine they 21 oz denim you can pretty much wear them all year without tooo much swamp nutz.
great job

Yeah, I swear they breath better than the lighter 18oz 666S's. That could be a function of the fit as well – these have a bit more room all around.

Any Levis fans know how comparable in fit these are to levis 511s?
I will bust out my 511s tomorrow and get to measuring but 511s are the best fitting jeans I have ever found and these look like a very similar silhouette. I would LOVE to have an IH clone of some 511s.
My problem with jeans is always in the thigh. I usually need a waist size that is 1 size bigger so I fit in the thighs. 511s are roomier in the top block but have an aggressive taper. Thanks guys.

@mikesantor
Not much clue about Levi's. Been a long while since the last time. Measuring is the best bet. Even then you should keep in mind that 8oz denim and 21oz denim are entirely different beasts. Your external thigh measurements for your Levi's, repeated exactly with IH will give you a snugger fit. So factor that in.Do you have any experience with IH jeans? Especially the 21oz?
-
Den, ill take a look but I have never ever fit into anything labeled "super duper skinny"…

thanks for your input neph.
Only pair of IH I have are a pair of SRs that I have been beating on since they released.
Another jean that fits me well is the N&F weird guy cut. Again, roomier top block (but shorter rise) and a heavy taper. N&F just make garbage jeans. I have purchased 3 pairs and I rip off belt loops and they completly come unstiched in random places.

SR's? Either way you may or may not know this but the 21oz will stretch. Not a lot in the thigh but at least an inch, maybe two, in the waist. So let thigh measurement be your guide after measuring your Levi's. As long as the waist is ballpark it'll either stretch to fit or you can use a belt.I struggle with 666's because to get a decent thigh fit I have to size up the waist too much. 555's and 301's don't give me that problem. The measurements of these would also work for me. Only reason I haven't bought them is I don't need more jeans in the same denim. If Giles brings some SBG heat to this cut then I'm in like Flynn.
