Yea that is laramie suede

into the first ones. i'm very weak for the first two you posted. something with light colored shoes makes me very weak, i know it's not practical, but i just like seeing them either stay super clean & spotless or get trashed & lived in.

Yea, I love tan suede also Monday. I think I could have pretty much an unlimited amount in the wardrobe if funds permitted.
On another note, I am finally sending in my order after work today, so it will feel good to have finally got real process started!

Astrogoji found most of them, I only posted the grey ones. They were mostly found on Rakuten.
Not Russell.
I've just got a pair of Red Wings, and finding them quite stiff and heavy. A pair of Russell Birdshooters in a similar build to UrbanWoodsman's (with the zip :D), but with the minimalist Newporter sole could be just what I'm looking for.

For those of you who know me, I am not kind to my clothes. I wear the crap out of them. Boots and shoes are no exception, I have had these probably for a good 2 years, wear them an awful lot in all sorts of weathers and have had to have them resoled once. Laramie suede sure does take a kicking…...

Looking great G. I got mine in Laramie Suede!

grame, i'm into 3, 4, 5 & 6. when are you taking the plunge? damn G$, those are almost as mis-shappen as the foot they cover. i know folks get up in arms about Russell's web site, but they are catering to folks that take their feet very seriously. just like Iron Heart was heavy denim for a certain market, Russells really cater to folks creeping around shooting sh!t that can't shoot back.
Seems those people take their feet & comfort very seriously, it's a good thing for the rest of us ::)

Giles, how do the Russells compare with things like Viberg and Whites in terms of build quality? I know it's comparing apples and oranges, but…
Madmonday, probably sometime early next year. It depends on finances, and I don't desperately need a new pair of boots right now. I've got a pair of Merrell barefoot style shoes, which I really like, and the Russell Minimalist range looks like taking this to the next level. So no chunky, white soles for me.

I've never been a fan of that "stitched by hand" irregular and uneven look that Russell does, but as you say, that's an aesthetic concern, not a constructional one. If Giles can't destroy a pair over the course of a couple of years, then they're clearly well built and from quality materials.

I like those knok about boots.
My only "beef" with Russell products is that some look like a 5 year old used grocery store scissors to cut the leather. Im not picky about stitch counts and the like, but the finishing is just shit at times. I have only seen examples of the extremes however, so they are either fantastic or poorly done. None of the issues seems to be a build quality issue though. I dont know enough to form a solid opinion at this point, but I am at the very least, weary of the product at this point.

Payment processed! Guess I can expect these as a Bday present to myself!

latest aquisition: custom sporting clays chukka

I like the green suede paired with the brown leather. I really like the green suede itself. Would like to see it paired with some khaki chinos and/or denim to see if I could pull it off.

yea, Im digging this combo as well.
