Went outside this morning to find that the metal thing that holds the ridge tiles onto my roof has literally fallen off, exactly on the month that I could have done without ANOTHER bill
-
The only things stopping me are….
-
I have no idea what those things are called, or where to buy a new one. Google has proved surprisingly shit on this task.
-
I crap myself on ladders.
-
Pam actually wants a decent job doing of it and not my half asses attempt at building work (you should see the pointing I did, bad enough to get me out of doing construction work for years).
-
-
I did part of my own pointing, which was so bad that we ended up paying a dude to do the rest

if you google roof tile clips there should be a lot of information available, but depending on the type and shape of tile used the clip will differ as well.
i can't help with 2) or 3) though….

@Megatron1505 may I just point out that @ky is female and appears to know a shit load more about building and DIY than you do…..

Just got back from a 2 hour nature walk with >300 kindergarteners. I went to spend time with my son as was offered by school when they sent home the event announcement. What they really meant is all parebts that come will be supervising a mess of other kids who the teachers choose not to. I CAN SAY I am very proud of the way my kid behaves himself, and WILL ALSO SAY I'm very disappointed I the way the greater majority of other parents took the opportunity more to socialize than to pay attention to their children. All in all I ended up supervising somewhere between20-30 of these kid even though many if their parents were there simply because they paid zero attention to what was going on. Several kids decided to collect rocks on the trail we were walking and once we reached the bridge overpass that over looked the highway decided to start zinging them at cars… Only a few teachers and myself bothered to stop this. Another child began telling his friends about how his mom (who was present) walks around the house without a bra. I have been Leary of public schools since moving back to this small town,it is where I grew up and the schools sucked when I lived here too. This just reaffirms my feelings that it may be time to check into private schools. I anticipated today to be stressful; however, I did not anticipate the amount of entropy I experienced this morning. All of that on top of still feeling beat down by the out with the flu this last weekend made for one heck of a Friday morning
Oh yes I almost for got the genius mother who lifted her son up to pick the eggs out of a birds nest so he could look at the and then laid them back in the nest...complete feckin brilliance

I feel your pain TMT, when Tommy was in nursery there used to be a dad who went to pick his kid up whilst hiding a can of Stella up his sleeve. Couldn't even pick his kid up from school without having a beer…..I used to spend an inordinate amount of time wondering what was so wrong in that guys life (apart from shit beer).

You have given me the courage to do so, I'll update on his response.
Well he responded. It took a couple of days, I thought he had bailed, which would have been odd as he has a decent amount of feedback around the usual spots. He said that he definitely didn't notice it, and that he just fixes things like that by hand. No offer for restitution, but I didn't ask. Lesson learned to be absolutely anal when doing trades or working with used merchandise. I tend to believe he wasn't being intentionally misleading, but I know if it were me, I'd at least offer to cover some of the repair. Detroit Denim has the jeans now, they are redoing the hem and fixing the crotch.
-
Sorry he didn't lend a helping compensation man, but hope you end up loving the jeans after the repair and you get all your money's worth and then some out of them.

Second time in a row that I've ordered something from the website, Vente-Privee, only to receive an email later saying that my items were never received from the warehouse. A refund and store credit don't really make up for the inconvenience. Both times I had to inquire about the items before I was informed they wouldn't be delivered.

I'm 0 for 1000 with USPS though. They wouldn't leave a pair of shoes shipped from South Korea even though no signature was required. 45 Minutes on the phone with them only to tell me they don't know when I could even go to try and pick them up from the Post Office myself. Nice work again boys.

I'm right there with you man. I don't think USPS or UPS worked at all this past weekend. I had two UPS packages that were suppose to be delivered on Friday(2 of 3 separate packages that shipped from the same Amazon order). I'm up and at home all day, the UPS guy usually comes around 11am. No door buzz or door tag but apparently I missed the packages. I'm not sure what these guys do. I believe they have to be within a few blocks of the addressee to mark the package as being missed or delivered. Maybe they just take a long lunch break, mark all these packages as missed and go home early.
I had a small first class USPS package supposedly delivered on Saturday(while I was home). The tracking says it was delivered but I got nothing. Usually, if it's a small enough item they will just put it in the mail box. I called USPS immediately and spoke to someone in India who said my only option was to call the local post office. After 15 calls now still no answer and still no package.
Package 3 of the Amazon order was shipped through USPS to be delivered on Sunday(they do that now for Amazon packages). I was home at the time they supposedly missed me. No door buzz or door tag. What the fuck.
I did actually get somewhat lucky today though. I went to my local USPS to get my missed package from Sunday. I'm sure you know how it is. It's like hell on earth in those places. There's a line of about 20 people just waiting to pick up missed packages. I'm there for about 2mins and one of the regular mail workers comes out from the back and is like, "yooooo, shaneee." He had my package ready for me. You know you order a ton of shit online when the USPS gatekeepers of hell know who you are. The look of disgust on everyone in line's faces was priceless.

I always hear USPS horror stories, but aside from packages delayed a few days never had a issue. UPS on the other hand has not been as pleasant. 3 guitar necks in a row lost, a guitar body so badly mangled the recipient swore they ran it over with a truck, packages from across state that took 3 weeks to arrive, and to ship anywhere from my burb costs a mortgage payment and a promissory note for your first born child's soul.
-
^^That's particularly bad - even I usually get my amazon packages. How you got anyone there to acknowledge your exist will amaze me until the day I die!
I knew this one would be a problem so I made sure it wasn't signature required. Lucky for me I had such a diligent delivery person today who decided not to bother delivering the package on their own!
I do love how the USPS phone # goes right to Indian…
^I think they get off on tossing packages around as violently as possible.
