There is a degree of regulation, but the "get off my land" crowd in the flyover land makes sure the cards are stacked in favor of the profit machine. Medical care and education have, for the most part, been handed to the "free market" in the US.
…but, but, but capitalism ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Stop poisoning them with wheat and they'll go back to being black labs.

Oh, and your post reminded me of this…

Lol. Call me when your student loan payments are 80% of your mortgage payments.
I pay well over 150% of my mortgage in student loan payments….
I'm waiting for someone from Detroit to chime in and reveal that their student loan is 50,000% of their (admittedly virtually non-existent) mortgage!

Fucking south west trains. Done fourteen hour days the last three days on the trot. Finally leave work at a reasonable time and all my trains are cancelled for the next hour. Moving to Ireland? Good call, and also difficult. I have had friends who wanted to do the same but couldn't get a visa. Enjoy.
@TrickHell:
We thought we had a house in Ireland, but then the people in there decided to stay and their rent is government subsidized, so it's basically impossible to get them out.
Fawk.
It's not really the end of the world or anything. I just thought we had the last stressful part of our move sorted. House was a great deal, too, right on the water. Oh well. Shit happens.

Nothing to do at work:
Xena is the most stupid show ever. -
I've just been looking at the rental application form for one of the Australian letting agents. The information it asks for includes:
-
Driving licence details
-
The car you own
-
Passport details
-
Current and previous employment details
-
Current and previous landlord, and whether your deposit / bond was refunded
-
A business reference
-
A personal reference
-
A reference from a relative
I'm wanting to rent a place, not buy it. I didn't expect some sort of Spanish Inquisition!
