from my experience the buffalo uppers are actually rather soft and need no breaking in and the soles of this thickness will never get soft anyway. You just take advantage of the rocking sensation, but don't expect them to soften.
My standard leather SJ's are still very rigid despite some heavy abuse and are best worn laced only half way up. the (Armageddon) buffalo SJ's i got from mecha are very soft in comparison. -

They are original semi-dress (2332L) I believe that is the brown dress
