White's Boots
-
yeah, the soles are massive, i might darken the sides a bit. i wanted a decidedly different pair of SD's that fit well between the very flat and reduced brown buffalo ones and my black cxl bounty hunters.
i left the oxfords out of the family pic, as they are an entitely different breed.Anyway I am quite happy with how they turned out. Hope i am done now

Hi guys,
I am thinking of getting a pair of White's Boots to look something like Yuketen Johnson Boot.
I was originally thinking it would be the semi dress with a medallion cap-toe, but someone suggested perhaps the Bounty Hunter with a captoe. Anyone, think the SD is the closer one? I am also planning on getting same vibram CHRISTY sole. I plan on wearing them in wet weather especially in the winter slurry. I am thinking the CHRISTY would be more durable than a leather sole. Any other pros and cons on rubber sole versus regular. Finally, I wear size 9D in Red Wing Classic Moc Toe Boot. Would you recommend the same size in White's since the sole is going to be the same as the one used on RW.
As for the color, the Horween Chromexcel that White's uses is closer to the Indy
403
NOT 405 correct?
Thanks,

you can get the bounty hunter in that height, but not the SD. a regular bounty hunter (no lace-to-toe) in dark brown dress leather with medallion cap toe should put you close. i would suggest you consider a double leather midsole with a vibram minilug instead of the christy, which is really a sole designed for flooring workers and roofers on the site and wears out really quick on pavement.

^Thanks, I am leaning towards that type of sole now as well. The height actually is not a huge preference, so slightly shorter or longer would be fine. I was more concerned about the last and shape of the boot. I thought your boot had a shape fairly close to what I am after. Sent you a pm as well!

got it! if i was to order again today, i might go one lift lower with the heel though. not for comfort, but just to tone them down a bit.
-
for reference: semi dress vs bounty hunter with almost the same sole setup (except colour and heel shape). note the seperate heel piece from the single shaft and the backstay sewn underneath it with the pull loop on the bounty hunters.
-
not sure about the consistency of that, here is a different pair of SD's against the same bounty hunters.

hi guys! I'm thinking of my second pair! am considering a semi-dress with double midsole and half comp sole.. but i'm not too sure on leather yet… here's what I have in mind
Natural CXL
Brown French Calf
-
I believe it was Barun. About 2 years ago but I don't remember if they were sj or sd.
-
I would probably choose the distressed over natural CXL, just because the CXL is too delicate and scuffs too easily and distressed often looks very much the same. Of course CXL is softer, at least before breaking in the distressed leather.
I would suggest to consider ordering the heel one lift lower though, like in the picture (which is not an SD, of course).

Brilliant! That's them. I was pondering the black/brown combination for a pair for something different that would work with black jackets nicely.
My SJs with standard heel have quickly become the most comfortable pair of boots I have owned so I probably wouldn't change the build in that respect. Why do you suggest one lift lower on the heel nca?

Sorry unharmed, I meant to answer supersalami's message. And there it was purely for style reasons on the SD's.
btw. the two-tone model unearthed by Finn should be a Bounty Hunter IMHO.

If I get my boots on Tuesday like Fedex says I should, then my wait time from order to my door will be 8 weeks. Ordered through Kyle at Bakers. That was during three holidays as well.

Urban, were you able to sneak by the three leather option like you planned or did they bust your balls?
