White's Boots
-
@4c:
Commit yourself to a psych ward, I mean commit yourself to countless hours on forum boards such as this and goole image searches for key words like "white's boots". Then plop down your first four bills on a pair from Baker's convincing yourself and significant other that one pair is all you'll ever need. Then let the seed of boot obsession grow. Before you know it, you'll be bobafide!
+1
+2, oh yeah this sounds very familiar!

I've been to two of the places in the city that have whites:
Grahame Fowler (138 W. 10th St.) Amazing store, should check it out regardless of the Whites. They have semi-dress in dress brown, maybe one other build. Had the sizes I wanted to try on.
Tani (131 W. 72nd St.) Terrible store with useless staff - had probably two builds of whites but none to try on in 9.5, 10, or 10.5 in any width. Staff could care less.

For your viewing pleasure, here is link to a really beautiful pair of well-worn black bullhide x black smooth 6" smoke jumpers - you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page, to the post dated 6/1/2012. http://www.life-time-gear.com/search?updated-max=2012-06-07T10:09:00%2B02:00&max-results=7&start=340&by-date=false

Toe vamp and upper (shaft) leather - choose black dress, black smooth or black cxl, your choice
Leather liner - can't tell

Last - standard

Celastic toe box - single
Toe cap - no thanks
Hardware - antique eyes, or antique eyes & hooks (can't tell)
Pull Loops - can't tell, but it's a matter of preference

Toe bug stitching - no thanks -
No worries! Here is a link to EastWest site's leather samples - you can see various black leather choices. http://www.eastwestapparel.co.uk/leather-samples

Im pretty much in full agreement with bluegrass, tho ill add my two pesos:
I think I see a speed hook on the left boot. Also, to me those look like single midsoles (brown stained or nicely aged natural) with 269 outsoles (I spot some slight black edge on the soles, and the pinstripe line through the heel). Also, due to the wrinkling around the ankle, I think they may be unlined. If I could recommend; if you're going with the dress leather, I'd suggest getting them lined. I have a pair of SDs being remade (in brown dress) that were originally unlined, and seeing as I had the chance to redo them I chose to go for leather lining for the extra $35. ( just makes the boot feel a bit more substantial IMO)Regardless, they're a classic build; you'd get a hell of a lot of wear out of them!

They are doing well, thanks, a little daring on the color front, perhaps should have left the suede out. I didn't realize that the CXL, with almost green hues, would be that different to the suede, but I can live with it. How are yours fairing? I did get some white leather laces from Baker`s, and I think this combo should be stunning…in fact, might lace them up now...

don't white's get you to go through a pretty full on fitting process ie. sending in traces of your feet etc to ensure you get the right sized boots?
They did that to me and I got stuck with a boot one size too big. Damn annoying, and the next pair a half size down drowned me too, and that ended up costing me two pairs of boots. Fortunately the market for resale is good here, but nothing beats a fitting in the real thing. I`m afraid a tracing is always erred on the large size, as its easier to say "keep the boot and wear a thicker sock"…

I
m a half size up to an english UK shoe, and 1/2 down from a RM Williams (though I wear the F and not the G width) , if that helps, but as I say, there is no beating a true fitting, as the arch support in the White
s in uncompromising if its not perfect, and the most comfortable boot in the world if its spot on. -
Both pairs of SD's look great, I love the way that buffalo creases up with wear.
For my perfect Whites sizing I go half a size up from my UK size. I'm a UK10 so I order a US10.5.

Love your taste in boots daizawaguy.
Been having a similar experience with the navy CXL… Slight yellowing overall with browning in the heavy wear points. They’ve been holding up pretty well and breaking in wonderfully. I’m thinking about using blue lace project laces myself… But then again it would be really cool to get those white laces and dip them in indigo.
