White's Boots

Payless sell some really nice Spongebob slippers
-
Yeah, can't say I'm happy with that.
Danner isn't even close to Whites. Maybe Danner will learn something from Whites though.
-
It remains to be seen what the effect will be, but the empirical evidence of ABC Mart's purchases to date is not encouraging. White's have always been my go to boot company, I'm hoping that this does not change that.
-
Are y'all assuming they build upon the domestic plant? It could be that they convert it into a large scale industrial operation or even nix the whole damn thing. Either way, this is almost certainly bad news for enthusiasts.
-
They COULD do any number of things, such as…
-
Leave well alone after a small increase in capacity to keep White's as the flagship range.
-
Open up production facilities in other parts of the country and significantly modernise the process to save money resulting is worse product.
-
Stick a White's label on any old foreign made tat and milk the brand name as long as they can.
Either way, many of the options do not look palatable.

If I'm Nick's I'm looking at this as a golden opportunity to capture some of their rival's enthusiast fan base. They might want to look into getting a wider array of leathers.

They might want to start by dropping their lead times from 20-24 weeks to something a little less insane.

Yeah… some of that could depend on what happens to White's. If there's suddenly some extra manufacturing capacity in Spokane they can hire/buy, then perhaps they can address that.

A crap. I wanted to order a pair of Nomads at the end of the year. Hopefully things won't change that fast for the worse.

It only took them 6 weeks from my order at Baker's to make and deliver my custom classic work boots in february / march.

I'm hoping I can help you change that….

Those lace to toe low cut Job Masters have not left my mind yet…...#matteroftime

Wonder if this will lead to a mini-rush of orders as people try to get them in before the changes…. as I'm thinking of doing.
According to some people on Styleforum their orders the last month have been done within 2-3 weeks. Might be the best time.

I don't view this as great news, as I am pretty change resistant, especially when it comes to messing with things that are not broken.
But.. If it is a Japanese company, surely they are not so stupid that they don't know what they are buying - that White's has an enthusiastic following in Japan, and it is the made in America ethos and hand-made quality that drives that. The Japanese are known to be pretty shrewd consumers - they know and appreciate quality goods. ABC may just be acquiring an iconic brand/product, and they will try to expand marketing and awareness in the U.S., Japan and other markets. White's is not a well known brand even the U.S. - nothing like Red Wing here in the Midwest U.S. If they continue to do what they do, here in the U.S. and expand carefully there is certainly a bigger market out there…
Or they could just fuck it all up. Hope not.

My sentiments mirror yours exactly. I couldn't have said it better so I won't try
