BAKING TODAY PART II
-
well … beats ... cheesecake is my favourite too and always on the first place ...
actually ... I didn't really liked rhubarb in the past since I tried the one from my mother in law ... and now hooked on this too ... and it's yummee -
Wow, seeing that reminds me of my childhood. Mom used to make rhubarb pie and I always thought it was weird that something that looks like red celery could taste so good. May have to try and make some myself.
But you and Beatle are right- cheesecake is the absolute best.

sure other food was involved but let's jump to cake prep.
sifting the floor
beating sugar & butter
seems some of the sugar needed to get put back in it's place
skip the oven that's long & boring. . . we want cake
simple sugar with a little kick
yum *i've given up the sauce for lent heheheehehe
damn, all this for a freaking cake
& it's still not done. icing & all that got done & now it has to be dressed up. hopefully tuesday will finish it up on tuesdaybig tease

@monday:
[chickenn]
oh hellyeah!! i just did up a quick batch of alfoil chicken breasts to last me a few post-gym dinners. as a semi-related aside, chillies go a helluva lot further when they are in a sealed container as opposed to getting fried and all of their heat flying off into the atmosphere. open up the alfoil boat and my eyes are already watering
-
tuesday finished up the Easter cake
sorry would of gotten pictures of her doing all the icing & fondant, but i came home & it was done

Ahh the simple things….
This belongs in the "What are you Unwrapping and Microwaving Today" thread…

at the start of this thread i promised that if the topic took off i would create an Iron Heart cookbook from the contributions
well - imo the thread has been a great success and so a huge thanks for all the fantastic contributions to date (please, please keep 'em coming!); so . . . here are the beginnings of how i am imagining the e-book might take shape (thinking along the lines of retro lookbook rather than actual recipe book):
Inside Cover
Sample page (in progress)
thanks to Simon for the burger pic and a certain crazy Kat for another type of inspiration
these are downsampled works in progress, but just wanted to let you see i'll keep my promise since you contributed so wonderfully well (and shamed me since i've hardly done any cooking recently . . . to be remedied ;))
comments/ideas would be very welcome

Since this weekend it's really crowded in the area where I live because of the 1st of may festivities and I hate it, I've stocked up on food and drink and movies and am spending all weekend locked up inside. All the streets and parks are absolutely packed with drunken people who basically just behave like pigs (sorry Seul). But I'm nice and cosy inside and that's what matters!
I decided to make some north african/arabian inspired food today:
Pita bread
Chicken patties with north-african spices (coriander, jeera, sesame, almonds etc.)
Lentil-spinach salad
Aubergine paste
Hoummous
Yoghurt sauceAsolutely superb if I say so myself! These recipes will be added to my favorite recipe book!
