It's no secret I am a fan of thorogood and it's no secret I am a fan of chelsea/Romeo boots. The Wood and Stream classics series seems to be their answer the red wing beckman stuff. At more than $100 less I figured I'd give em a try.
Horween leather. Vibram Roccia sole. Leather covered cushioned footbed. Scotchguard also. A great silhouette, and it's a pretty light weight boot.
Initial critiques…
The elastic side gores aren't as heavy duty as the red wing equivalent of this boot or a pair of blundstones. I'm interested so see how well they last.Sizing wise I could have gone up a half size and been fine. I got a 9.5 and these seem on the tight side but hopefully they'll stretch. They gave my heels some gnarly blisters today. Hopefully that ends after the break in period.
I got these from the union boot pro and there was an instant 30% off code so they were $154 with free shipping.
Overall I dig em.

Does anyone own a pair of the insulated wedge boots? There are fantastic, really warm winter boots for the terrible climate where I live (Toronto). However they have some weird silicon treatment and apparently can only be treated with nikwax? Nikwax waterproofs but doesn't have any pigment and I think that after two hard winters, these boots could do with some oil that will restore colour in the scuffs. I'm wondering if I can use mink oil (which is what I use on my thorogood mocs)….
