Watched Pandorum the other night and found it interesting, although not great. Sci-fi/horror films tend to be a mixed bag for me and Pandorum was no exception. I liked the premise but once they injected the creatures into the mix it kinda fell apart. I'd probably give it a 6/10

Re-watched Jackie Brown for the first time in about 10 years. I do love Tarantino and that is not only his most underrated film, it may be one of his absolute best.
Yep, Jackie Brown is great. Loved Robert Forster. I've found that some of Tarantino's films haven't aged well, especially the movies that made him famous like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Of his recent output, I really enjoyed Django Unchained and Hateful Eight, but that's because I like a good western. Excited for his Star Trek film to come out

The thing about JB is that it was made to look like a late 70’s film in the first place, so watching it now over 20 years after it came out is pretty surreal as it makes it very hard to place (with the exception of SJ’s backwards Kangol cap of course [emoji23])
Is the Star Trek movie definitely on?

@neph93 Yes, does anyone know the status of it?
Side note, it seems to me his last (four?) films would have been better suited for a 6-8 episode Netflix series. He is adding too much nowadays. I don't mind it but they don't feel like complete films, and it makes me nostalgic for a film like Jackie Brown. And, if you care, it's my favorite film of his, @neph93. Anyway, I know he released a longer cut of the Hateful 8 on Netflix as a tv show. I'd rather see him do something like that nowadays from the start.

I suspect that it is. The studio would be insane to turn him away and since the Star Trek franchise is a cash cow i'm sure they'd want to capitalize on Tarantino's ability to bring in movie goers. If it becomes rated R even better. It might seem like a cliche at this point but Samuel Jackson as a Klingon would be bad ass

It didn't help that Hateful Eight was 3 hrs long. It's definitely a slow burn of a film but well worth it. I also like that this movie is basically a Western version of John Carpenter's The Thing, not just with the characters but also with the environment, the plot and the music, some of which was music from The Thing soundtrack

That would be cool, but I don't think Sam Jackson would spend all that time in make-up.

I’m sure he spent a lot of time in makeup for his role in Django [emoji848]

Agreed. I think the long running success of Pulp Fiction somewhat overshadowed it's release. I often wondered if it would've done better, had it been released a bit later.
Reservoir Dogs will likely always be my sentimental favorite. It was quite impressive how well QT did with his first feature film. To this day, every time I hear "Stuck In The Middle With You", I can't help but do the Mr. Blonde shuffle.

I'll play along…and I'll preface this by saying I haven't seen Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yet
1. Inglorious Basterds
2. Django Unchained
3. Jackie Brown -
Tough one
1. Hateful Eight
2. Django: Unchained
3. Inglorious Bastards*honorable mention: True Romance (directed by Tony Scott but written by Tarantino)
-
1. Reservoir Dogs
2. Jackie Brown
3. Inglourious Basterds*I reserve the right to change my selections, as I have not seen H8ful, or Once Upon, as yet.
** It will likely never happen. But I'd love to see him make Natural Born Killers as he originally intended. It was a shame he had to sell the story. Although, I am a fan of Stone's version. -
1. Pulp Fiction - My favourite movie on ANY list, everything in that film is perfect.
2. Jackie Brown - underrated
3. From Dusk to Dawn - Did not expect the twist half way through the filmCome on guys, there should be more Pulp F in the top 3!!!
Haven't seen 'Once upon…' yet, but I think that might get into my top 3!

"Pulp Fiction" would definitely be my #1. I still remember seeing it in the theater. Love "Reservoir Dogs" too.
He's made plenty of enjoyable films but I am not sure how I'd pick #3 and haven't seen many of his more recent ones.
I struggle to find films I want to watch, but my wife has not seen some classics, so we've been going back and watching older (but not black and white old, unfortunately that bores her) films. We started with "Godfather I & II," and "Apocalypse Now" and "The Conversation" will round out our initial Coppola run. I would love to do Kubrick next, but unfortunately there are problems there in terms of my wife's preferences–despite her reservations, I think she could handle "The Shining" and may be surprised to like "2001," but would hate "Clockwork" and we run into the black and white issue in the one I'd most like to screen with her, "Strangelove."
We also have ones we've seen but have re-watched, like "Big Trouble in Little China."
I've really enjoyed watching these older films and will be trying to change her view of black and while films in the days ahead.

Watched the Joker movie… It was fine.
There were elements that I liked (mostly the acting), but the storyline was a bit weak. Basically, a compelling performance by Joaquin Phoenix but a predictable script. It's obviously based on a comic book but quite loosely at that... So much so that it seems a bit forced when certain characters or action beats are mentioned/done.

Saw Ford vs Ferrari tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chemistry between Matt Damon And Christian Bale is just perfect. Lot of fun exciting, and the fact that I had been to Ferrari, this past summer, where they talked about this rivalry, made it especially interesting for me. Wife enjoyed it as well.
