Now to play the waiting game. My debit card may have killed itself after this purchase but I'm pumped for these things man
-
Ugh man I cant wait to wear these things. Gonna have to put a towel on the seat of my car though cuz I bet these things bleed like crazy

Good idea, the denim do bleed . I have a towel on car leather seat. Secondly be careful at home upholstery sofa and other cloth material. Already ruined expensive sofa which I didn't realized until my wife point it out the indigo leak.

Ever since I've gotten in to raw denim I've kept a towel on my truck seat lol. I wash it once a week and it's actually quite surprising the amount of Indigo that rubs off on to the towel every week even when wearing a pair of Cones or other slow bleeders.

Even tho I didn't get a pair of these, I'd put them thru my usual wash routine for new denim, to get the extra shrink out as well as any extra indigo.
Basically: inside-out, front load machine (no agitator), wash hand cycle, mild liquid detergent, cold water, no spin; then a 1 minute or so slow spin just to get excess water out, and then hang dry. Then I do it all over again a 2nd time, with hot water. Sometimes I might do a 3rd hot wash, right-side out. I've also found ironing after hang drying helps the denim relax and hang better. Also, I've started using Obenauf's Leather Oil on patches before I wash. It darkens the patch a lot, but I think it'll extend the life a long time, as I wash frequently.
I've done it on several pairs now, and have had no discernible loss of indigo darkness, and no crease lines. It does reduce the amount of indigo bleeding considerably, depending on the pair.
Sorry for derailing the discussion… Still messmerized by these thing! carry on!

Yeah I'll be hot soaking them for sure with some agitation to get rid of as much shrink as possible. Most of my furniture is dark brown so hopefully my parents wont notice haha but I have a feeling I'm going to make some of my professors mad by turning their chairs blue haha
-
Welp, I didn't want to purchase 1-hour Progressive Cold-Soak Denim insurance, but I'm trying to take less risks in my old age.
Don't you go a-shrinkin', little buddies.
(fingers crossed)

How are the 25oz jeans coming along? What made you go for such thick jeans?
"Beauty is pain" or something like that lol
-
Just got mine from UPS 2 seconds ago. Holy these things are stiff but look sooooo amazing. Shout out to Alex for measuring the pairs so I got the best ones for me
-
I might have to pull on the waist when they wet a little though because it was a struggle to button the top one pre soak
-
No problem, @IndigoNoob
Let us know how you get on post soak. The stiffness of the denim can make you think they are tighter than they are, so if the rest of the fit is good, persevere! -
Signed up just to follow this thread. They're my first 25oz with the previous heaviest pair i had being the 301s. The weight and stiffness of fabric definitely feels substantial - borderline insanity as people would comment, as we lived in Singapore (tropical climate, warm and humid all year round).
Oh what a small esoteric circle here.

Three days in after my cold soak and loving these! STILL can't quite get the top button done, but I have faith that I'll prevail…sometime...soon...hopefully.
The weight and density of them makes everything else seem...quiet.
Here's a hump-day shot of my hump. Love the "marquee" arcs!
-
Yeah when I tried them on presoak they felt great everywhere else and based of Giles shrink test I'll be golden. It probably was just the stiffness that made it feel tighter than I thought. I'm doing it today since I worked yesterday after school so we will see soon enough
-
I was really afraid these were going to be too tight after my soak, but once I persevered in the struggle of buttoning them up, the fit has been perfect. I think they may end up being an easier break-in than the regular 25oz. Still super-stiff, but after the first couple of days it's only getting better and better.
