thanks for the kind word folks
beware of the rise to thigh ratio.
the jeans are dope, but the only reason i still have them is the blacked out W and the pockets . . . yes, I am special.
all the talk of the selvedge superblack & the cut they are going to end up in has me very curious

Do you find them a lot more snug in the top block than the 555?

I'm also interested in your take on that @madmonday

Thanks @Jett129 - Im curious because I find myself really enjoying the lower rise on my 8301, although I will admit to wishing I would have sized down now that i've put about 30-45 wears on them and they are about 2-3' too large in the waist and rather baggy in the thighs. I have come to think that the lower rise might actually fit my body type better, and while I love the 634 cut, they full leg isn't doing anything for my silhouette wise. I am convinced to try the 777 cut, but can't decide on the material. Right now it's either 14oz or 25oz, and while I know the 14oz might be more manageable, the 777XHS may be my only option for getting a suitable tailored look in the 25oz fabric.

I absolutely love my 777XHS. Took a while to break in,but totally worth it. When I got my tag 36 IHxVS 777s I asked for the jeans with the highest rise, which resulted in jeans with a 37.2 waist, which might have something to do with why they’re so comfortable. I never measured to see what the actual rise is.
-
@Appfaff FWIW in my experience having owned the 777 and 634 cuts, I would advise sizing up one to two sizes from your 634 size.
-
^thats my story and sticking to it.
-
@Appfaff, you can also have a look at the PIHXHS https://www.ironheart.co.uk/bottoms/pihxhs.html. I too was looking at the 777-XHS first but went for the Pronto collabo instead as their rise is slightly more comfy. They fit brilliantly by the way and are amongst my favourites.

Thanks @Jett129 - @Adam measured the remaining size 38 777XHS for me and the measures were VERY close to me 8301 when raw, since I kinda wish I would have sized down on the 8301, Im thinking after a soak and some stretch the 777XHS might actually be perfect.
@manufc10 - thanks for the input dude - I think as long as the rear rise is somewhat close to 16 and the thigh is above the 13.5 mark, I'd be good to go (hopefully haha)
Thanks @Dion - I definately did check those out based on a rec from @Filthy 21/23oz junkie , but I fear the leg opening is larger than I want. Plus, the waist is a big too large for me when I get the thigh measure right. I could size down i guess lol
-
Love mine but will never be able to wear a shirt tucked in due to the rear rise.
-
Still don’t understand why a motorcycle specialty line would have such a low back rise. Are visible coin slots in fashion!?! Lol
And granted i KNOW my body type is not meant for these but FTW!!!
-
^see what i did there…

This is a dangerously low rise on this cut.

No problem man. Keep in mind that with me saying that I have no problem at all sizing up and having a waist that's a bit loose on a low rise jean, I actually prefer it. If I didn't I wouldn't be able to sit down and my jewels would get crushed. The thigh fit is the most important to me, waist comes second…possibly even third. I always size for the thigh.

As I recall, this was a Giles directed model, so the rise may have been a decision based in customer based, fashion driven requests, (Western customers, particularly) rather than in Japanese biker practicality.

@Appfaff 777 top block is tighter than 301 top block. When I wear 777s I make sure I am not
anywhere as my beans tend to get smushed.
for the record I have had 777 in 32 & 33 in the 14 oz denim and the rise with my chunky belts just didn’t work for me but I loved the slim leg and the denim. 301 I have had in 21, super black and that greyweft or weave version.
@mikebarhoot they come in your size and so are made for you. don’t be ridiculous and think you have to wear only “dad denim” as long as you are comfortable in them rock out
-
are just the initial inspiration for the brand.
they are so much more than that now.
Coffee cups, Tupperware, blankets, sweatpants,
removers, coasters, and lawn chairs

Last I promise so much text I mistakenly spoke about the 301 instead of the 555
️
555 more relaxed and forgiving in the top block than the 777 it is all about the rise and the thighs everything else can be sorted
