That's a really nice fit, @Bums_Fan - it looks spot on.
I bought this jacket last week while I had the chance. They were selling out fast. I'm not surprised, as this jacket is amazing - you won't find a better type III jacket, in my opinion.
I've owned a few different Iron Heart type III jackets and therefore wanted to share my thoughts, in case it helps anyone else considering buying one:
-
These definitely come up small. I usually wear a L in Iron Heart shirts and jackets. However, having studied the measurements, it was clear that I would need an XL in this jacket, but even that is slightly on the small side. I am 5'10" and 170lb. I can do up all the buttons but it's very snug around the waist (as it should be). I don't intend to do it up very often.
-
The XL is perfect for me if I wear it over just a t-shirt. However, it's a bit of a squeeze if I wear it over a hoodie or UHF, especially in the shoulders, even if I wear it undone. Therefore, if you want to wear it over layers, you'll definitely want to consider sizing up even further (i.e. two sizes bigger than your normal IH shirt size). I should add, although the jacket has significant heft, it's not very warm worn over just a t-shirt. So think carefully about when/where/why you want to wear a type III jacket.
-
Meanwhile, the arms (sleeves) are relatively short compared to other Iron Heart type IIIs, at least in my experience (it's worth using the IH measurements comparison tool if this is likely to be an issue for you). Thankfully I have short arms so this isn't a major problem, but might be for some.
-
The material is crazy. It literally creaks when I move! I really like this about it, but my wife is less of a fan.
-
I was curious what the colour would be like in person. What surprised me (in a good way) is that the jacket has an almost 'used' or 'vintage' look right out of the bag. I expect it will age beautifully.
-
The left-hand twill denim gives it a raised texture, almost like corduroy but much stiffer, at least initially.
-
The delivery on this jacket was first class, literally. I ordered it at 11am and received it within 24 hours. I am in the UK but, even so, that's impressive.
I'll try to post some fit pics when I have more time.

Thank you @Jett129 and @going_to_battle . It really is a great jacket. I ended up going to with an XXL (44). I am normally an XL in IH shirts, sometimes XXL in UHFs. I intend to wear this over t-shirt in most cases, but I have tried it on over a couple of my denim shirts and it is doable. I haven't tried it on over an UHF yet. I suspect it will be a little tight.
-
@Bums_Fan, mind me asking what your height/weight is?
-
6'0" and fluctuate between 200-205 lbs.

Following Bum_Fans lead with the whipcord cargos…
My first Denim trucker from IH--will not be my last!
Some awesome purple hues come through on this crazy stout fabric. -
That looks like a great fit and definitely goes well with the whipcord cargos. The jacket is really compatible with grey marl t-shirts and sweaters by the way, as you just proved.

How did you size in the end K?
Went with the XL (42). Once the crew confirmed this run sewed up smaller than the version Sam wears on the product page it was decided. Sam has been my barometer over the years.
Thanks again to everyone's info and photos, really happy in the end!Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

This whole IH addiction is getting real. I just ordered a 526J-22 addition to this lod which fit i like a lot now with more wears.
-
The fit looks spot on, @cooldude_abe
Did you have second thoughts about the fit upon receiving it? I can't see anything wrong with it at all.
By the way, what jeans are those? 555?
-
Thanks, I didn't have second thoughts initially. It's just that the jacket feels pretty soft now, and I like the broken-in fit and look better.
The jeans in the photo are 777-XHS. I might have to stock up another pair of XHS before the price changes on Monday. That will be my only excuse.
Thanks.

That is an excellent point, @cooldude_abe ! Couldn't have said it better myself. Second thoughts rarely come initially, if ever, but rather exclusively arrive after you've already had your first thoughts.
That's my input for the day. I'm out.

Back last year in August I got one, underestimate the sizing…

@AdamJ hey buddy still pumping Iron since and jacket stays with me. -
Hi everyone - IH crew. I am sure it can be found somewhere but I have not stumbled upon it yet. Can some one or any of you good people describe the differences with the 22oz Selvedge Denim Overdyed Indigo VS this 19oz Left-Hand OD Denim in terms or texture, feel, etc, and fading properties?

@Kasi yes I can. I have had two legs of the tour with the IH-526j-19L-OD and I own the IH-526-22OD.
The 22oz has is a heavy matte black to start with. Very inky. It has a smooth even hand like the source denim does, except the OD makes it more so as it tightens the weave considerably. It fades very nicely, noticable patterns appearing after only a few wears. It is heavy but not too stiff and softens very quickly. It is early days on mine yet but it looks like it will go from black to indigo to grey/white, retaining a little of each.
The 19oz has a more rugged, crosshatch weave pattern, and starts off stiff. It does soften nicely but takes a while. It fades witj great contrast but doesn’t retain as much indigo, seeming to go from black, quite quickly to white in high abrasion areas.
Obviously the fit is different between the two but seeing as you didn’t ask, I guess you know that.
