2017 Musings, 2018 Dreaming

Looking ahead to next year I’m eagerly anticipating a Spring meeting with my arch nemesis/ man I love like an estranged brother @Seul , over beers and bacon. Then later in the year I’ll hope to meet up with a few SoCal based members of the Iron Heart Army in Los Angeles, I need to break the news to @seawolf that Mrs Seawolf has agreed to spend a day at a theme park with us on his behalf too, so he gets first shift on the biggest roller coasters.
Yes!!!!!! I love rollercoasters
@Madame:
Nice one @Megatron1505 - I can't believe that 2017 has gone so quickly, doesn't seem like nearly a year ago we were celebrating your birthday with the Trons and Chris plus family on New Year's Eve 2016! Do keep us posted on your US visit plans, I am desperate to visit San Diego for the first time and @seawolf has (very foolishly) offered to host us when we finally visit!
The guest room is ready for you and there are some marvelous fish tacos and great beers within walking distance from our place!

Good job @seawolf , because I’m terrified of them

I will add that it was great meeting everyone at Giles Kanreki, some I have known before, and a lot of new people. I will now take the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Or a Happy Happy to what ever you celebrate.

2017
Was a good year for us. Obviously, we had my Kanreki, which was amazing, not just because of the brilliant organisation by @Madame Buttonfly, but also because we met so many new Iron Heart friends. Everybody who made the effort to come, thank you. Then there was the amazing present of a pair of Red Kloud boots that you guys gave me, the fitting in the outskirts of Tokyo was really fantastic and I look forward to going back (in May, I hope) to pick up the finished article. We met up with a load of new IH friends in Austin in November, we feel so privileged to call you all our customers and friends. @Alex started working for us in January and that has made an amazing difference to both me and Paula, we have been worrying about succession planning for years, but we now know we have a solution. I love what @madmoses said the other day, and I paraphrase "It can be tough working with family at times but also rewarding as there is a certain level of trust and accountability that’s really hard to replicate." Whether it's nature or nurture, I do not know, but Alex just simply "gets it", it is a great weight off my shoulders having him as part of the team.2018
Well, we open up our new operation in LA in Q1 or Q2, that is super exciting. We'll continue to try and release great stuff in sensible quantities. I am aware that our approach to product announcements and releases in the second half of 2017 became a bit too clinical. We were trying to implement processes to minimise the mistakes we were making, I think what happened is that we took a little bit of fun and personality out of the brand. We're going to actively try and slow things down, introduce more IWHWIH's, and inject some more fun into what we do.Love, respect and my heartfelt gratitude….

Well said Giles. Good luck to you all and congratulations on the prosperity of IH. I’m new to the brand and the forum but @Alex has dealt with most of my inquiries and he has been nothing short of impeccable. The customer service he has provided is top notch. Wether it’s nature or nurture, you should be proud. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

2017 has been a blast watching IH put out such a phenomenal line up, and following along with the behind the scenes access showing the whole process from conceptualization–loved seeing H- san's sketches-- to deciding which products and which quantities to stock for the market outside of Japan--not envious of that essential duty. The forum is a huge learning experience and gives your customers a chance to participate and contribute in the process, making the brand feel much more personal and I know is a big mover in IH's success. Really greatfull that this community exists as a place for sharing our love and passion for this awesome brand and the people behind it. A big thank you to the team, the mods, and the fellow members that make all this possible!
Looking forward to all the changes coming down the pike for 2018 and am most excited to meet Alex et al and scope two new IH product lines in PDX! Kind of overwhelming trying to wrap my head around all the growth to come, not sure how you guys stay sane, juggling so many aspects of the business all while maintaining the best customer service in the biz!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, guys! Cheers to you and yours!

Agree regarding forum participation and the contributions made. there are some great ideas being mentioned and it's cool to see some of them being made. It helps too that we all mostly have similar tastes in clothing
